The aim of this paper is to examine the role of physical education (PE) teacher and classmate support in relation to sex and BMI status in adolescents' physical activity (PA) in Kosovo. A Classmate and Teacher Support Scale (with additional questions) was used on a cross-sectional sample of 608 girls and 620 boys aged 15–18, randomly selected from secondary schools of seven major municipalities in Kosovo. PA level was determined with a Physical Activity Screening Measure questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and a three-way ANOVA, along with Tukey's HSD post hoc test, were employed. The findings showed the levels of teacher and classmate support to be important factors in stimulating adolescents' PA. It was found that boys with normal weight, high support from teachers, and medium or high support from classmates were more physically active, compared with girls.
This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the prevalence and anxiety predictors among college students in Kosovo. Participants were 676 randomly sampled college students (M = 21.54, SD = 4.44), selected from three universities (two private) in the 2015/2016 academic year. Pearson chi-square, t-Test, ANOVA, linear and multiple regressions were used. The prevalence of anxiety was 33.6%. The symptoms were significantly related to gender (p = .00), study year (p = .00), family income (p = .00), group age (p = .00) and father's employment (p = .00). Female students, students living in extended family, first-year students, students whose mothers did not work, showed statistically higher levels of anxiety. Anxiety was predicted by gender, study year, previous study academic achievement and family income. Study findings stress the importance of understanding the relationship of psychosocial factors and anxiety, for the purpose of determining the necessary and adequate interventions and programs. According to McCarthy, Fouladi, Juncker, andMatheny (2006) andWilliams, Galanter, Dermatis, andSchwartz (2008), the most common concerns reported by college students in counseling centers were anxiety, stress and depression. Gallagher (2007), Hunt and Eisenberg (2010) and Pedrelli, Nyer, Yeung, Zulauf, and Wilens (2015 showed in their studies that the prevalence and severity of significant mental health problems are increasing in the college student population. The aim of this research is to conduct a comparative analysis of the mobile learning trends of students of the physical education teaching department studying in The Republic of Kosovo and Russia. In this research, causal comparative research method was used. The study group consists of 40 students studying physical education teaching at various universities in Kosovo and Russia in the 2020-2021 academic year. A total of 80 students participated in the study. The research data were collected by the semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher and the data was analyzed by content analysis method. The research results reveal that students studying in both countries have a high mobile learning tendency. In addition, students from both countries have similarly defined the advantages and disadvantages of mobile device use in education.
Background:The depression is a significant problem in patients with diabetes. This research is the first of it’s kind conducted in the Republic of Kosovo to determine the prevalence of depression diagnosed in people with diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2) and interrelation between depressive symptoms and behavior of diabetes self-care (glucose monitoring, exercise, diet, and self- health care).Methods:Research was conducted in the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), in Pristine. The sample consisted of 200 individuals. Data collection was done through structured questionnaires. HANDS (Harvard Department of Psychiatry / National Depression Screening Day Scale) questionnaire was used to assess depressive symptoms and DSMQ (The Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire) was used to assess self-care behavior. Data analysis was run through SSPS program, version 21.Results:The results showed that the prevalence of depression in diabetic patients was 66.5% in Kosovo. Being a woman, a resident of rural areas or with low level of education, there were significant predictors and were associated with increased chance of developing the symptoms of major depression. Significant relations were found between major depression and physical activity (p<0.05). While between major depression and management of blood glucose level, dietary control and self health care, no significant correlation was found.Conclusion:This paper concluded the involvement of psychological aspect in health care plan for diabetics, in order to reduce the number of individuals affected by depression, to diagnose and to treat these individuals for a better quality of life.
