Background: Bullying victimization at school is an important concern in terms of social and mental health, particularly, for hearing impairment adolescent students who may be more vulnerable than hearing peers. Aim of the study was to evaluate effect of nursing intervention for hearing impairment adolescent students regarding bullying. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used. Setting: The current study was conducted at Al-Amal School for Mute and Deafness students at Benha City. Subjects: Purposive sample was used in this study, it includes 107 students, all of them were chosen from the mentioned setting. Tools of data collection: Five tools were used. I-A structured interviewing questionnaire; consisted of 2 parts to assess: 1) Demographic characteristics of hearing impairment adolescent students. 2) Questionnaire to assess student's previous exposure to bullying IIknowledge of hearing impairment adolescent students regarding bullying. III-opinions about deaf community. IV-Self-esteem scale. V-Adolescent Bullying scale. Results: This study showed;20.5% of studied students have poor knowledge pre intervention decreases to 1.8% post intervention, while 12.3% of studied students have good knowledge pre intervention increases to 84.1% post intervention. 78.5% of studied students with low selfesteem pre intervention decreases to 19.6% post intervention. While14% of studied students with high self-esteem pre intervention increases to 85.9% post intervention.56.8% of studied students with negative opinion about deaf community pre intervention decreases to 22.4% post intervention. While 44.2% of studied students with positive opinion about deaf community pre intervention increases to 77.96% post intervention. Conclusion: This study concluded that: The nursing intervention had a significant effect on the improvement of the hearing impairment adolescent students' knowledge, opinion and self-esteem. Recommendations: Further studies should be provided to assess factors that increase bullying behavior. Community support should be provided to hearing impairment adolescent students.
Background: Leukemia disease is a common cancer and remains a life-threatening malignancy in adolescents, that affects on adolescents over the world physical health, psychological health and social wellbeing. This study aimed to assess quality of life among adolescents with leukemia. Research design: Descriptive research design was used for this study. Setting: This study was conducted at Mansoura Oncology Out-patient Clinics. Sampling: Convenient sample were used in this study, the total sample included 90 adolescent patients. Tools: two tools used in this study. The first tool: A structured interviewing questionnaire which covers the following parts: Part I: Asocio demographic characteristics of adolescent patients. B-medical history of the adolescents' suffering from leukemia. Part II: knowledge of the adolescents' regarding leukemia disease. Part III: Concerned with practices of adolescents' regarding leukemia disease. Second tool: Concerned with adolescent patients Quality of Life Scale regarding leukemia. Results: 56.7% of adolescent patients were males, 47.8 % of adolescent patients had basic education and 54.4% of the studied adolescent patients were from rural area. 64.4 % of the studied adolescent patients with leukemia hadn't teenagers or relatives with leukemia or cancer disease. 54.5% of the studied adolescent patients with leukemia had average total knowledge regarding leukemia. 84.4 % of the studied adolescent patients with leukemia had satisfactory with total reported practices regarding leukemia. 45.6% of the studied adolescent patients with leukemia had moderate total quality of life level. There were a highly statistically significant relations between total knowledge level of adolescent patients with leukemia and their socio demographic characteristics regarding age and level of education. Conclusion: There were statistically positive correlation between total adolescent patients knowledge, their total practices and total quality of life scores related to leukemia disease. Background: Blended learning is a teaching method that integrates both offline-learning and online-learning with the aim of producing a conducive learning environment so that students become more active and independent. Aim of study: Was to assess perception of Geriatric Nursing students regarding blended learning. Research design: Adescriptive research design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing, Benha University. Sample: A systematic random sample of 25% of all Geriatric Nursing students in the previous mentioned setting which includes 134 students from 535 Geriatric Nursing students. Tools: Two tools were used to conduct this study. Tool I: A structured interviewing questionnaire format which included 3 parts: A) socio-demographic characteristics related to the students. B) learning needs assessment of the students. C) knowledge of Geriatric Nursing students regarding blended learning. Tool II: Likert scale to assess attitude of Geriatric Nursing students regarding blended learning. Results: 86.6% of Geriatric Nursing students preferred teaching methods that depend on the educator and the learner. 42.5% of the studied students had poor total knowledge level about blended learning. 59.7% of the studied students had negative attitude regarding blended learning. Conclusion: There were highly statistically significant relation between Geriatric Nursing students' total knowledge and their socio-demographic characteristics regarding mobile phone type p>0.001. There were highly statistically significant relations between total students' knowledge level, and total attitude regarding blended learning. Recommendation: Designing workshops on how to use computers and internet for nursing educators and nursing students to increase the effectiveness and quality of blended learning.
Background: Self-care behaviors can start after passing the acute period of myocardial infarction and have special importance in health maintenance and its recurrence. Aim of the study: Was conducted to assess self-care for patients with myocardial infarction. Research design: Descriptive research design was used to conduct this study. Setting: The present study conducted at Cardiac Out Patient Clinics in Benha University Hospital & Benha Teaching Hospital. Sample: Simple random sample was used in this study. The total number of sample was 254 myocardial infarction patients. Tools: One tool was used to collected data Part (I): An interviewing questionnaire to assess patients' socio demographic characteristics. Part (II): About patients̕ medical history. Part (III): Patients̕ knowledge regarding myocardial infarction and self-care. Part (IV): Patients̕ self-care reported practices.Results: 63.8% of patients had total average knowledge regarding myocardial infarction and self-care, while 65% had unsatisfactory reported self-care practices. Conclusion: There were highly statistical significant relation between studied myocardial infarction patients' total knowledge and their socio demographic characteristic regarding educational level, while there were highly statistically significant relations between the total self-care practices of studied myocardial infarction patients and their total knowledge. Recommendation: Health educational program should be developed and implemented for patients with myocardial infarction to improve, and updated knowledge and self-care practices.
