This research aimed to acknowledge the affect of scientific approach to students' study outcomes and anxiety while studying about matrix in eleventh grade of SMK PGRI Pontianak. The research method used was pre-experimental design, specifically oneshot study. The samples of this research were eleventh grader students in the major of Motor Cycle Technique, chosen by applying purposive sampling technique. Data collected by using study outcomes test and anxiety questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 25.0 program for Windows. The analysis of pretest outcomes before scientific approach applied showed that 30% of total students were passed, while the rest were not. After scientific approach applied, the data showed that 85% of total students were passed, the rest were not. Based on the anxiety questionnaire, it showed that 10% felt anxious, 40% felt a bit anxious, 50% not felt any anxiety. Also, there were negative correlation between the students' anxiety and study outcomes, with the correlation score of -0.445.Keywords: Anxiety, Scientific Approach, Study Outcomes,
This study aims to find out how students' mathematical communication skills in solving sets of questions that have high, medium, and low self-esteem, in class VII of SMP Islam Bawari in Pontianak. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method with a survey form. The subjects of this research is 29 students in class VIIB SMP Islam Bawari Pontianak. Test and non-test techniques are used in this study as data collection techniques. Self-esteem questionnaire test, mathematical communication ability test, and interview are the tools used in this research. The results of this study are students with a high level of self-esteem that have fulfilled the category of mathematical communication skills, including that students are relatively able to understand the context of the problem in presenting the information obtained from the problem; Students with moderate levels of self-esteem almost meet the category of mathematical communication skills, This is indicate that students have a difficulty in solving problems, so the answers given are incomplete and inaccurate with the information contained in the questions; Students with low levels of self-esteem barely meet the category of communication skills, This is indicate that students have a difficult in understanding the purpose of the question.Keywords: Material of Set, Mathematical Communication Skills, Self-Esteem
The reasons for conducting this research are that some teachers have taken inappropriate learning strategies and that students’ mathematical disposition and mathematical communication ability in learning are still low. The Didactical Design Research (DDR) method begins with preliminary study on 28 eighth graders (junior high schoolers), aiming at exploring the students’ learning obstacles to develop a micro didactic design. This micro didactic design is then implemented to the same students, after being subjected to validation process. The research results indicate that the learning using micro didactic design can minimize students’ learning obstacles and this, eventually, positively contributes to students’ mathematical communication ability and disposition in materi algebraic factorization. From the data analysis results, it is found that the price of effect size for micro didactic design learning on mathematical communication ability is 1.07, and from Table Z it is found that its contribution is 35.77%. Meanwhile, the price of effect size for micro didactic design learning on mathematical disposition is 0.2, and from Table Z it is found that its contribution is 7.93%.
This study aims to analyze and describe what materials are difficult in calculus courses and also materials that are misconceptions. This research was conducted to improve the competence of students in the future. The formulation of the problem in this study is "How to improve student competence in integral calculus courses?" The sub-problems are: 1) What materials do students have misconceptions in integral calculus courses? 2) What materials are difficult for students to understand in integral calculus courses? The research method used is descriptive qualitative by surveying students of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tanjungpura University. From the overall results, there were 22 students (60%) did not experience misconceptions and 14 students (40%) experienced misconceptions in the first concept. In the second concept, 40% did not experience misconceptions and 60% of students experienced misconceptions. For the third concept, 70% of students experienced misconceptions and 30% of students did not experience misconceptions. In the fourth concept, 28% of students experienced misconceptions and 72% of students did not experience misconceptions. For the fifth concept, 6% of students experienced misconceptions and 94% of students did not experience misconceptions. And for the sixth concept there are 28% of students experiencing misconceptions and 72% of students not experiencing misconceptions.
Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan etnomatematika dalam kain tenun libau dan implementasikan corak kain tenun kedalam pembuatan LKPD berbasis budaya di kelas VII SMP. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena kurangnya minat peserta didik terhadap kebudayaan yang ada serta pembelajaran di sekolah yang masih minim dalam mengaitkan pembelajaran matematika dengan budaya lokal. Etnomatematika dalam penelitian ini merupakan gabungan antara kebudayaan lokal dengan konsep matematika. Penggabungan kebudayaan lokal dan pelajaran matematika di sekolah akan membuat kegiatan belajar menjadi menarik dan bervariasi. Penggabungan ini diharapkan menarik minat maupun perhatian peserta didik dan dapat membantu memahami pelajaran matematika dengan baik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnografi dengan subjek penelitiannya yaitu perempuan suku Dayak De’sa yang membuat kain tenun. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi terhadap dokumentasi objek penelitian dan komunikasi langsung berupa wawancara. Alat-alat yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data yaitu kamera, rekaman, pedoman wawancara dan pedoman observasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan memilah data yang sejenis lalu melakukan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kain Tenun Corak Libau memiliki konsep etnomatematika pada proses membuat kain tenun maupun dalam motif yang dibuat. Bentuk corak libau yang ada pada kain tenun tersebut diintegrasikan kedalam pembuatan LKPD berbasis budaya materi segitiga dan segiempat untuk peserta didik di sekolah menengah pertama.
