Neuropathy or neurological disorders are caused by hyperglycemia. It can cause damage to the peripheral nervous system. It makes diabetic patients cannot feel heat, pain and tingling. The aim of this research to determine the effect of foot exercise on foot sensitivity at diabetic patients in Puskesmas Alai Kota Padang. This type of research is quasi-experimental, one group pretest postest. Sample was 16 diabetic patients in Puskesmas Alai. The data were processed by computerization with univariate analysis using descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results of univariate analysis showed an average foot sensitivity before foot exercise was 1,56 and after that was 2,44. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was an effect with p = 0,000 (p≤0,05). Based on the results, this study proved the effect of foot exercise in diabetic patients. It suggested to facilitate foot exercise at diabetic patients by nurses in Puskesmas Alai.
Background: Hypertension is called the silent killer because it does not provide specific symptoms, it can increase the incidence of strokes, heart attacks, chronic kidney disease if not controlled and controlled properly. Management of hypertension is generally with pharmacological therapy that has not shown improvement. Non-pharmacological treatment using rosella flower tea which functions to open blood vessels wider, reduce blood viscosity and increase urine production so as to reduce blood volume. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of rosella tea on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Methods: This study uses a quasi-experiment design with the two-group pre-test and post-test design approach. This research was conducted on patients with hypertension at the Padang city health center with an intervention group of 16 respondents and a control of 16 respondents. Data analysis in this study used univariate and bivariate using independent t-test statistics. Results: The results of the study showed the average blood pressure in the systolic pretest intervention group 147.81 for 94.69 diastole and posttest systole 129.06 posttest diastole 78.75 while the control group for systole pretest 154.6 for diastole 96.25 and posttest without posttest treatment systole 129.06 postest diastole 78.75. Obtained a p value 0,000 statistical test for systole and a p value 0,000 diastole. Conclusions: There is an effect of rosella flower tea on reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension at the Padang city health center.
Background: Diabetic ulcers often result in amputations. The bacteria found in diabetic ulcers are Enterobacter sp, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella sp and Pseudomonas sp. Nursing management of ulcer patients has been attempted but nothing has been effective yet. Using virgin coconut oil (VCO) contains anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and has an analgesic effect to increase the formation of new blood vessels with faster wound healing. Aim was to study the effect of wound care by giving VCO on the colonization of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in diabetic ulcers. Methods: Quasi-experimental research with the two-group pre-test and post-test design approach involved 36 diabetic ulcer patients with consecutive sampling by doing wound care for 4 days. The duration of treatment was 30-40 minutes. Data was taken by swab on wound fluid before and after the intervention. Bivariate analysis carried out t-independent test of DM ulcers. Results: The results showed the average number of colony staphylococcus in the intervention group before being given wound care with VCO 72.88, while after being treated with 38.88 wound VCO and the average results of the number of colony staphylococcus in the control group before being treated with NaCl 77.88, whereas after being treated with VCO 38.88 wound with NaCl 72.88 in the statistical test the p value is 0,000.Conclusions: There was a significant influence between the number of colony Staphylococcus in the control group and the intervention group.
