Background: Foot Exercise can help improve impaired blood circulation and strengthen small leg muscles in diabetic patients with neuropathy. In addition, it can strengthen the calf and thigh muscles, overcome the limitations of joint motion and prevent depormity. The limited amount of insulin in DM patients results in increased blood sugar levels, which causes damage to blood vessels, nerves and other internal structures. So that the blood supply to the legs is increasingly obstructed, as a result, DM patients will experience impaired blood circulation in their legs. Objective: to determine the effect of foot exercise on foot blood circulation in diabetes mellitus patients before and after giving foot exercise treatment. Method: This type of research is a Quasi Experiment. The population in this study were 347 people per year, the sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling so that 29 people were obtained. The research data were analyzed by using paired t-test. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that there is a difference in blood circulation before and after doing foot exercises with a value of p = 0.000 with an average increase in blood circulation. -0,260. Conclusion:There is an effect of foot exercise on leg blood circulation in diabetes mellitus patients at RSU Dr.Pirngadi Medan. Suggestions for nursing practice are expected that nurses who work in this room should establish a regular foot exercise procedure for diabetes mellitus patients and for future researchers they should use a more accurate tool for measuring foot blood circulation such as the HI-doop Dopller.
