El objetivo de este estudio fue adaptar y validar para nuestra zona el Inventario de Sexismo Ambivalente ASI (Glick & Fiske, 1996). Este inventario está constituido por 22 ítems distribuidos en dos dimensiones: sexismo hostil y sexismo benévolo. La muestra quedó constituida por 220 participantes de ambos sexos, todos ellos estudiantes de las carreras de psicología, periodismo, economía e ingeniería. El ASI muestra ser confiable y válido, y nos informa de una alta correlación con una serie de variables sociodemográficas y psicosociales. Respecto del perfil de sexismo, los hombres muestran mayores índices de sexismo tanto benévolo como hostil que las mujeres, aunque los niveles para estassobre todo en el de tipo benévolo-son bastante elevados. Se discuten estos resultados a la luz de las teorías sobre prejuicio y estereotipos de género.
The importance of communication in any therapeutic modification of behavior is well hown. This interaction between language and behavior has particular relevance for the management of delinquents. Among the aims of schools for such boys is the development of methods which foster an ability to verbalize feelings and which inhibit the impetuous acting out of emotions. This paper is a brief report of a pilot study in the development of such a method. It is divided as follows: (1) selection and description of subjects; ( 2 ) method of therapy and report of individual therapy sessions; and ( 3 ) evaluation and interpretation of the study.( 1 ) Selection and Description of SubjectsThe clinical psychologist of a school for delinquent boys selected four characteristically reticent boys ranging in age from 15 to 17 years. The following brief excerpts from the file of each boy will indicate the interpretation of "reticent" in the context of this study:Does not ask for appointments. Does not participate in cottage committee group. Usually seen as unsmiling. Has not related to anyone on a relationship basis. Remains passive.Never asks for individual appointments. Is quiet but responsive in cottage committee groups. (Concerning his eighth grade English class) needs to communicate.Child 3: Does not ask for appointments. Has been very compliant. He remains fairly bland. Child 4: He is a pretty well protected boy who does not reveal very much.Child 1:Child 2:( 2 ) Method of Therapy and Report of Individual SessionsThe four boys met with a speech pathologist once a week for 8 weeks in group sessions lasting 45 minutes.
