Good growing media contains enough nutrients, light textured, and have the capacity to hold water to create conditions that can support plant growth. The growing media used for propagation has several requirements, that is firm and dense to enhance the growth of stems, has the capability to hold water, guarantee the plant life, and moderate humidity. This study attempts to evaluate the effect of biochar, cocopeat, and saw dust compost on the growth of Dryobalanops aromatica and Shorea balangeran seedlings. An experiment was conducted by using completely randomized block design (CRBD) in factorial with two factors, namely growing media (top soil 100%; top soil 80% + saw dust compost 20%; top soil 80% + biochar 20%, top soil 80% + 20% coco peat ) and two species of dipterocarps seedlings (D. aromatica and S. balangeran). The experiment was carried out in a Forestry Faculty nursery during 3 months. To determine the best growth media, the vegetative parameters of seedlings were measured and the data were statistically analyzed. Survival rates of both of seedlings showed good specification in all types of growing media. The survival rates of D. aromatica for 100% top soil (control); 80% top soil+ 20% sawdust compost; 80% topsoil + 20% biochar; 80% top soil + 20% cocopeat are 100%; 100%; 97.78% and 97.78%; respectively. S. balangeran are 93.33%; 100%; 100%; 97.78%. Quality Index of D. aromatica 100% top soil (control); 80% top soil+ 20% sawdust compost; 80% topsoil + 20% biochar; 80% top soil + 20% cocopeat that are 0.15; 0.14; 0.10; and 0.10; and for S. balangeran 0.09; 0.38; 0.05 and 0.07 respectively.
This research was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of BSF extract in vitro on the growth of Salmonella typhimurium, E. coli and Pseudomonas aureginosa. The experiment was carried out according to the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and three replications for each treatment. The treatments were different concentration levels of BSF extract, i.e. 75, 125, 175, 225, 275 and 325 mg.ml−1. Chloramphenicol with concentration of 30 µg. discs paper−1 was used as a positive control and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as a negative control. BSF extract was made using maceration extraction method. The results of this study indicated that the antibacterial activity of BSF extract increased (P<0.05) in line with the increase level of BSF extract concentration. The average diameter of the inhibition zone for Salmonella typhimurium, E. coli and Pseudomonas aureginosa was 11.77 ± 0.03 mm, 11.15 ± 0.05 mm, and 11.15 ± 0.23 mm respectively, which was categorized as strong inhibition zone. In conclusion, the concentration of BSF extract of 325 mg.ml−1 is an effective concentration to inhibit the growth of the bacteria Salmonella typhimurium, E. coli and Pseudomonas aureginosa.
Penelitian ini bertujuan: Untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaanhasil belajar fisika siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaranProblem Solving dengan yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaranDirect Instruction, untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan hasil belajarfisika siswa yang memiliki sikap ilmiah rendah dan sikap ilmiah tinggi,untuk mengetahui apakah ada Interaksi antara model pembelajaran ProblemSolving dengan tingkat sikap ilmiah siswa dalam mempengaruhi hasilbelajar siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan secara cluster randomsampling sebanyak dua kelas, dimana kelas pertama sebagai kelas eksperimen diterapkan model pembelajaran Problem Solving dan kelas keduasebagai kelas kontrol diterapkan model pembelajaran Direct Instruction.Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu instrumen tes hasilbelajar fisika dalam bentuk uraian sebanyak 8 soal dan insrumen angketsikap ilmiah sebanyak 22 soal yang telah dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Darihasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajarfisika siswa dengan model pembelajaran Problem Solving dan modelpembelajaran Direct Instruction. Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar fisikaantara sikap ilmiah rendah dan sikap ilmiah tinggi. Terdapat interaksi antaramodel pembelajaran Problem Solving dengan sikap ilmiah siswa dalammempengaruhi hasil belajar siswa. Kata kunci: problem solving, sikap ilmiah, hasil belajar
T here is a continuous increase in the growth of the animal husbandry industry in Indonesia, especially the poultry sector, due to the increasing demand for related products and population growth. The local village chicken plays an essential role in the lives of Indonesian and is associated with cultural development, especially in rural areas, where it is a major source of meat and eggs to fulfill the nutritional demands of the people. However, the development of local poultry in the country, especially village chicken, is still very slow compared to commercial chicken breeds. This condition is due to the relatively low genetic potential, inadequate management, and the use of traditional feeds with low quality (Nataamijaya, 2017). According to Budiansyah ( 2010), approximately 70-80% full-scale fabrication value of livestock business depends on the feed. Therefore, the optimal quality and quantity of feed are needed to improve growth.One of the effects of Covid-19 is the disruption in the supply of mostly imported protein source feedstuffs, such as fish and soybean meal. These ingredients are required to formulate a ration containing balanced nutrition to meet the needs of poultry for optimal production. The purpose of this study are 1) to develop physics learning media in light reflection material, 2) to know the improvement of students’ critical thinking skill after implementing android-based learning media in their study. Research method used was 4-D namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The sample of this research was 20 students of class XI MIPA in MAN 2 Yogyakarta. The technique used for collecting data was tests (pretest and posttest) and non test. The instruments used for collecting data was learning media validation sheets and question sheets. The data analysis technique used a sign test to determine the effect of learning media on critical thinking skills improvement. While the improvement on critical thinking skills using the normalized N-Gain equation. The results of this study was 1) learning media developed was valid, 2) android-based learning media improved students’ critical thinking skills as evidenced by the value of sig 0.00 <0.05, and 3). There is an improvement on students’ critical thinking skills calculated using N-gain equation with a low category namely g> 0.03 and a high category which is 0.03 <g <0.07.
