The objective of this research was to find out students’ positive perceptions on the use of project-based learning in writing class. The project-based learning focused on the students’ perceptions and the benefits of their writing project. The data were collected through a questionnaire adapted from Unumeri, G.O (2009) and also interviews. The research method used a quantitative approach with descriptive statistic data analysis techniques. The subjects of this research were 60 senior high school students in SMA Qur’an Darul Fattah. The questionnaire results showed that most of the students had positive perceptions on the use of project-based learning. They agree that the material used in project-based learning is clear, interesting, and easy to understand. In addition, the use of project-based learning in learning activities can enhance their motivation and improve their writing skill. Furthermore, students have positive perceptions toward the teacher’s ability in guiding and facilitating them in project-based learning in writing class.
Kendali glikemik merupakan hal yang penting bagi penyandang Diabetes Melitus (DM) karena berimplikasi terhadap upaya pengelolaan DM. Tuberkulosis (TB) paru merupakan salah satu komplikasi yang banyak pada pasien DM yang berhubungan dengan proses dan hasil pengobatan penyakit tersebut. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui kendali glikemik berdasarkan parameter kadar Glukosa Darah Puasa (GDP), glukosa darah 2 jam post prandial (GD2JPP) dan HbA1c pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 (DMT2) yang mengalami TB paru. Penelitian potong-lintang dilakukan pada 45 subyek DMT2 dengan TB paru dan 45 subyek DMT2 tanpa TB paru yang berobat jalan di dua rumah sakit di Surabaya. Hasil pemeriksaan GDP, GD2JPP, dan HbA1c yang dianalisis secara deskriptif, ditampilkan berupa nilai rerata dan Standar Deviasi (SD). Diperoleh rerata dan SD adalah GDP (202,11 ± 78,68 mg/dl), GD2JPP (283,20 ± 107,20 mg/dl), dan HbA1c (11,20 ± 2,61%) pada subyek DMT2 dengan TB paru sedangkan pada subyek DMT2 tanpa TB paru diperoleh GDP (175,29 ± 61,38 mg/dl), GD2JPP (208,22 ± 75,60 mg/dl), dan HbA1c (9,34 ± 2,22%). Nilai rerata GDP, GD2JPP dan HbA1c pasien DMT2 dengan TB paru lebih tinggi daripada DMT2 tanpa TB paru. Hal ini menunjukkan kriteria pengendalian DM yang belum mencapai sasaran sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya pemantauan kendali glikemik yang lebih baik
DNA in human’s sperm is located in nucleus (nDNA) and mitochondria (mtDNA). DNA oxidation is indicated from high concentration of 8-OH-dG. It is very important to identify factors that can cause genetic dysfunction risk responsible for genetic changes. 8-OH-dG compound are a promutagenic of DNA dysfunction of deoxyguanosine oxidation by oxygen radical. ROS is an oxidation, which in high concentration can oxidize DNA. Guanine is a nucleotide, which prone to oxidation, with 8-OH-dG as the end product. Detection of 8-OH-dG can be done by HPLC method. These results indicated that there were significant differences (p less than 0.01) in detection of 8-OH-dG in sperm, between normospermia with asthenospermia and normospermia with oligospermia. Correlation (r) of 8-OH-dG with motile spermatozoa is – 0.7111. Immotile spermatozoa caused by oxidation or DNA damage are shown by high concentration of 8-OH-dG. In normal physical condition, sperm produces oxidant. High oxidant is toxic to sperm, which influence their motility. Sperms motility is one of factors causing male infertility.
Borax, in illictic additive substance, is added on certain food product as a e preservative and rubbery. Therefore, the determination of borax in the food product such as meatball is very impotant in view of meatball is a food product often consumed by community. Vis- Spectrophotometric method with curcumine 0.125% as a reagent and glacial acetic acid-sulphuric acid has been used for determination of borax in this research. Curcumin reagent was selected because sensitivity of the method and the reproducibility of the results are affected by quality of the reagent other than rigorous observance of the reaction conditions (temperature, time, reagent quantities). Glacial acetic acid- sulphuric acid was used to create acid condition, so that curcumin and boron form a violetred 2:1 complex called rosocyanin. The optimum result was obtained when 1/. ml solution of 0.125% curcuumin and 1.0 ml concentrated sulphuric acid were added and the absorbance was measured after 70 minutes at 547 nm. The results showed linear regression y = 1.3127x – 0.0994, r = 0.9690 > r table (n = 5) is 0.878 and p = 0.007 (p< 0.01) and Vxo is was 15,53%. The detection limit and quantitation limit were 9.7.10-4 ppm and 2.94. 10-3 ppm respectively. The recovery and coefficient variation were 47.56%±3,92%. Determination of borax in three meatball samples which were taken from a location in Surabaya showed that the sample contained borax with concentration of 0.0205; 0.0151; 0.0210 (% w/w) respectively.
The personality of the learner is determined by the strength and ability of the local genius, so as to enable development in the future. Schools, especially basic education should make a habit of multi-cultural approach to integrate the values of local cultural wisdom in the process of learning in the classroom, extra curricular or student activities. The aim of the research was to examine the contribution of educational model based on the multi-cultural approach to appreciating the value of local wisdom. The research used a quasi experimental, the study population is elementary school students, the sampling is determined by use an error rate of 5%, so that the number of samples is 40 students of the sixth grade. The research was conducted for one semester. The data of local wisdom value appreciation was collected through a questionnaire consisting of 5 aspects, namely: local knowledge, local culture, local skills, local resources and local social process and was analyzed descriptivequantitatively and statistic by t test. The result of the research is that the application of an education model based on multicultural approach contributed to the appreciation of the value of local wisdom
