Rasulullah Shallahu'alaihiwassalam said, "if a fly falls in the vessel anyone of you, let him dip all of it (in the vessel) and then throw it away, for in one of its wings has the ailment and the other has the cure" (Al-Bukhari). This hadith creates controversy because in general flies are a vector for the spread of disease from dirty places to food or drinks. Therefore, the research was conducted on right-wing of fly (Musca domestica) as neutralization of drinks contaminated by a microbe. This research used the method of Complete Random Design by 5 treatments and 2 repetitions. The treatment was done by sterilized water (positive control), drinking water added to the bacteria Escherichia coli (negative control), and drinking water contaminated by Escherichia coli bacteria with the addition of 1, 2, and 3 flies right-wings. The research began with taking the right-wing of fly and continued with the dilution of Escherichia coli culture tubes up to 6 times. The bacterial culture inoculation was carried out using Pour Plate method on Eosin Methylene Blue agar which is incubated for 12-48 h at a temperature of 37˚C. Data retrieval is done by observing the calculation of the number of microbes using a colony counter every 12 h. The data which obtained for 48 h incubation show "0" as the result, that cannot be analyzed with SPSS. The result indicates the microbial development does not occur on contaminated drinks by addition with right-wing of Musca domestica.

The study was aimed to analyze nutrition knowledge, physical activity, and nutrient adequacy level among Excutive Board Students of Bogor Agriculture University (BEM-IPB). The study was conducted since February until May 2012 in Campus of IPB Dramaga, Bogor. The subjects were 86 students, selected purposively from every areas of BEM faculties. The data consisted of individual characteristics, nutrition knowledge, physical activity, and daily food consumption. Data of food consumption was collected by 2x24 recall method at weekend and class day. In average, nutritional status of subjects was categorized as normal (BMI 21.7±2.9 kg/m2). Subjects nutrition knowledge mostly was moderate (79.1%). Physical activity of subjects in general was light (PAL=1.64). This implied to amount of estimated energy requirement which is lower than amount of recommended energy intake for Indonesian people, i.e 2,349 kcal vs 2,550 kcal (for men) and 1,851 kcal vs 1,900 kcal (for women). In general, the means of nutrients adequacy level were adequate, energy and protein (90—110%RDA), and micronutrients of vitamin A, vitamin B, and iron (>77%RDA). However, adequacy level of vitamin C and calsium was still deficient (<77%RDA). Based on %RDA category, there was a different trend in subject distribution between macro dan micronutrients. %RDA of energy and protein were mostly categorized as adequate (40.0% and 33.0% respectively). However, in case of micronutrient, subject categorized as deficient was larger than adequate, especially on vitamin C (77.0% vs 23.0%), calsium (66.0% vs 34%) and iron (55.0% vs 45.0%).

High fat and low dietary fiber are poor eating habit that lead to the development of diabetes besides sedentary lifestyle. Dietary fiber has been known to have benefit effect for managing diabetes. Vegetables and fruit consumption can meet the demand of this dietary fiber requirment. This study aimed to identify difference of vegetables and fruits eating habit among normal and type 2 diabetes mellitus subects. Subjects participated in this study were 50-65 years old men and woman in normal condition or with type 2 diabetes mellitus, having menopause more than 1 year, and sign the informed concent as self willingness to participate in this study. Subjects suffered from type 1 diabetes mellitus, anemia, and using insulin therapy were excluded from type 2 diabetes mellitus group. Subjects having high level of fasting blood glucose (>125 mg/dL) and anemia would be excluded from normal group. The amounts of type 2 diabetes group were 35 subjects while normals were 37 subjects. Results showed that most of subjects were enough in vegetables consumption. There were 47.1% subjects in type 2 diabetes mellitus group consumed less than 3 portions of vegetables each day while normal subjects were just 13.5% from entire subjects. Most of type 2 diabetes mellitus subjects (76.5%) consumed less than 2 portions of fruits each day. The percentage of normal subjects taking more than 2 portions of fruits were 51.4%. We concluded that the consumption of vegetables and fruits among type 2 diabetes mellitus subjects was less than normal subjects.
