Is it possible to entrepreneurship as a Christian calling? This paper answers to this question by doing a combination of socio-historical and theological approaches. Historically, the ideas of entrepreneurship and its practices are undergoing a meaningful development. While from a theological perspective it delivered an ethical meaning if entrepreneurship located in the frame of a theology of creation and social action to build a common justice. This is all affiliates with mentality of God in the creation process of the world and Jesus’ criticism of a greedy attitude. Paul, furthermore, making entrepreneur-ship is as a constructive way of his service. Eventually, if locating entrepreneur-ship in Rahner’s framework in terms of intellectual, res, and opera, it could be a base of Christian calling to create community welfare and justice.

This paper aims at elucidating the meaning of economic works from the Scripture, the Christian Bible’s Wisdom Books. Making use of the hermeneutics approach, more particular of Gadamer’s theoretical framework, this paper is to dialogue the meaning of economic works in the past with the modern’s perspective of works. Eventually, there had been a similarity between both meanings of works biblical-based and modern one i.e. if human being wants to be wealthy and meaningful person, in the theological perspective, should make it harmony between a hard and diligent works with the tenets of faith to God. It is based on such an idea, the church could and enabled to develop a theology or ethics of works particularly in the field of economic.
Education is understood as the institution creating human resources capable of making a better society in facing social change. However, education becomes the object of social change when education must submit to the development of the industrial world. The hidden curriculum is taught to prepare human resources to fulfil the market’s needs. Education is prepared to work for people who have capital as known terminology, capitalism. The growth of technology and its equipment make education a private and expensive institution economically, whereas unfortunate people cannot participate. Therefore, it creates incapable human resources to fill the free-market vacancy, and religious education is placed in the midpoint. The inequality of supply in human resource skills towards the demand for working space forms the unstable demand and supply curves. As a result, the shifting curve of the Short-Run Aggregate Supply of human capital moves toward supporting capitalism to stand still. Through the sociological approach, the perspective emic discovers the problematic fundamental for religious education is facing a social change. The dilemma of religious education leads to legitimate the path of capitalism in the education area (or market). The result revisits religious education to bring the equilibrium point between the product and the quality of human resources in a new form of academic capitalism by transferring religious values based on local wisdom and integrating curriculum between religious and non-religious subjects.
