High-T
c superconductor YBa2Cu3O7-y
was irradiated by γ-rays and 14 MeV neutrons to a dose up to 2.5×109 rad and 2×1015 n/cm2, respectively. No significant effects on the critical temperature were found in these irradiations, but the resistivity at 273 K changed slightly. It was concluded from this experiment that electronic process was not very influential in changing the T
c and the effects of 14 MeV neutrons on defect formation were assumed to be comparable to those of inpile neutrons.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
