Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is described as an endocrine disorderliness emerging from hormonal inequality and low form of inflammation. PCOS is a metabolic syndrome which includes complex medical treatments which are expensive and has many side effects. The purpose of review is to extract a literature that proves that diet has significant role in treatment of PCOS. After going through the published literature and initially 150 articles were included, which were after reducing 98 the duplicates, 22 irrelevant diseases were excluded. However, title and abstract 30-full text articles were eligiblewere relevant to topic role of seeds cycling containing omega 3 fatty acids on Pcos.Different review papers which contained data the role of different seeds i.e. flax seeds,sesame seeds,pumpkin seeds,sunflower seeds seperately then we came to conclusion that n-3 fatty acids were the main component among these seeds from plant sources which improves hormonal disturbances and insulin resistance in PCOS patients. This review literature is assessed from the precious data from Medline/PubMed, google scholar until November 2020. The present review is aimed to investigate the influence of n-3 fatty acid in balancing hormones, testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH) and insulin levels.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health problem and is related to poverty, under nutrition and poor immune function. The nutrition education provides guidance on the nutritional care and support for patients with tuberculosis. Current study was aimed to investigate the effect of nutrition education on nutritional status of tuberculosis patients. This was a pre and post interventional study conducted at Gulab Devi Chest hospital Lahore during December 2016 to February, 2017 among 100 patients of pulmonary tuberculosis. Data were collected by filling questionnaire through interview technique to get an insight into on patients' demographics, lifestyle factors and dietary behavior.Patients were counseled about recommended serving of five food groups and role of nutrition in managing disease and thereby improving nutritional status. Data were analyzed using the SPSS version 21.0. Results revealed that 32% males, 35% females were undernourished in pretesting and after three months improvement in BMI occurred i.e. 16% males, 22% females in post testing. Level of significance p= 0.013 increased to p= 0.016. The nutritional knowledge, Hemoglobin (Hb) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of patients improved significantly after three months of intervention (p =0.000). Most of the tuberculosis patients were undernourished and the threat of TB is affected by the nutritional status. Nutrition education had vital role in diagnosis, management and recovery from TB.
Insomnia is a condition that affects an individual by inability to get sufficient quality sleep or problem in maintaining sleep that is important for healthy functioning, performance and wellbeing. There is very scarce data regarding insomnia and its relation with different diseases. The present study was aimed to find out the association of insomnia with comorbidities among patients visiting Tertiary Care Hospitals, Lahore. A cross sectional study was conducted from May 2019 to September 2019 in Tertiary Care Hospitals district Lahore. Interviews were conducted by researchers to collect data through Pre-Tested Questionnaire. Informed consent was first taken from all participants. Data were analyzed by using Chi-square to find out the association of insomnia with comorbidities through SPSS version 25.0. Thousand (n=1000) patients suffering from different diseases randomly selected to participate, of which 43.6% were male and 56.4% were female. Results of present study revealed that association of insomnia with the diseases such as cardiovascular diseases (p=0.05), diabetes mellitus m(p=0.001), gastrointestinal problems (p=0.034), premenstrual syndrome (p=0.00), joint pains (p=0.01) and prostate cancer (p=0.01) was found to be significant. While an insignificant association of insomnia was noticed with hypertension (p=0.850), hearing impairments (p=1.22), COPD (p=0.288). It was concluded that insomnia was most commonly present in the patients of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, premenstrual syndrome, gastro-intestinal problems, joint pains and prostate cancer.
