Objective: develop and validate a video on bed bathing directed to nursing professionals and students. Method: the video was based on the literature and presents the definition of bed bath, indications for its performance, steps to perform it, and potential complications. Nursing professors and nurses validated it. They assessed the pertinence of content, clarity, and language of the video scenes. The Delphi Technique was used in this phase. After recording, three nursing professors, along with undergraduate nursing students from a public university, assessed the educational video. The professors first watched the video and suggested changes, and then the students watched the video after the changes were implemented. Results: six rounds were needed for experts to validate the video script using the Delphi Technique. After the video recording, undergraduate students considered the video of easy understanding. Conclusion: the video script was composed of four topics and was validated by experts after six rounds. The video was assessed by the professors and nursing undergraduate students, who considered the topics and the video as a whole as apprehensible. This study is expected to contribute to professional training and improvement of the knowledge and skills of nursing students.
Objective: Developed and validate educational videos addressing the female and male indwelling catheterization techniques in adult patients. Methods: Methodological study divided into two stages: development and validation of a script and the filming, editing and validation of videos. The script was written in the storyboard format, which was validated by eight nurse experts using the Delphi technique. The educational videos were filmed according to this validated script and were validated by 71 undergraduate nursing students using a five-point Likert scale. Results: The final script was composed of eight items: concept, reasons, material, instructions, male and female indwelling catheterization, indwelling catheter care, and complications. Five rounds were needed for the script to be validated by experts, a process that lasted nine months. The scenes were filmed, edited and inserted in the animated texts. The final versions were watched by 71 first-year undergraduate nursing students from a public university located in São Paulo. The mean scores assigned by the students to the eight items were greater than four. The item that obtained the highest mean was “complications related to indwelling catheterization”, with a mean score of 4.80. The item with the lowest score was “reasons” with a mean of 4.38. Assessment of the set of items (“did you understand this video?”) also obtained a mean score of 4.38. Agreement among students was also significant (p < .001).Conclusions: The script was developed and validated by experts, while the educational videos that resulted from this script were validated by first-year undergraduate nursing students.
Objective: To understand the meaning of having Crohn's Disease. Methods: Qualitative study, with a hermeneutic approach. Eight interviews were held, with patients who have a confirmed diagnosis of the disease. The main question of the study was: "what is it like to have Crohn's Disease?". The main changing factors of the category were: having a chronic disease, food, fear, lack of freedom, prevention of complications and hope. For doing so, they use a few strategies to overcome the difficulties, developing their own skills to move forward. Conclusion: Trying to understand the human nature, knowing how a person is and their feelings are a construction that needs to be improved in the healthcare courses, so that the professionals can provide the necessary support to the patients and offer adequate nursing care.
