The 13 fungi were isolated from five optical equipments collected in Bac Giang province, Viet Nam. These fungi were classified as Aspergillus and Penicillium. Based on classification by morphology and sequence of ITS1 - 5,8S - ITS2 regions, three fungi were identified including 13.1 - Aspergillus flavus; 19.1 - Aspergillus aculeatus and 17.2 - Aspergillus niger.
Lactic acid bacteria is used in many areas. In this study, 49 strains of lactic acid bacteria were isolated from the vegestable, fruit, and fermented food. Among them 3 potential homo-fermentative strains were selected and one strains can produce lactic acid with the concentration of 33.9 g/l in the MRS medium containing 40 g/l glucose with the yield of 87% at 37oC.
Endophytic actinomycetes associated with medicinal plants have widely reported to inhibit microbial pathogens and shown the potential applications. In traditional medicine, Curcuma longa has been used for thousand years. This is a precious medicinal plant, with the desire to find endophytic Actinomycetes strains with many precious properties on medicinal plants. In the paper, roots, branches and leaves of Curcuma longa were collected at Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province, Vietnam. The results showed that 8 endophytic Actinomycetes strains were isolated, in which, there are two strains named NVGR3 and NVGC3 could inhibit all tested strains (18.5%) and especially, NVGR3 strain has the best antibacterial activity. The isolated NVGR3 was selected for studying on biological characteristics. This strain reached high biomass yields as grow in several cultivation media at pH 5÷10, salinity up to 7% and growth temperature of 15÷37oC. Based on the results of morphological, physiological and biochemical characterizations and phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA, the isolated NVGR3 was identified as Streptomyces collinus species named Streptomyces collinus NVGR3.
In the present study, six strains of yeast were isolated from the broken PPU foam, which has been used in Su-30 MK2 aircraft for 6 years at Bien Hoa airport. Strain BHH3 was determined as a yeast candidate capable of producing polyurethanase and urease to break down PPU. In liquid mineral medium supplemented with PPU as the only carbon and energy sources, the strain BHH3 grew and attached to the PPU foam surface, and changed its colour from light yellow to brown just after 7 days at 30C. After 28 days testing, the tensile strength and elongation at break in the PPU foam was reduced significantly, reaching 11.8N/m2 and 249%, in comparison with that of the control of 12.6 N/m2 and 335%, respectively.
The study aimed to determine how different culture mediums affected the growth and morphology of the testate amoeba Arcella gibbosa Penard, 1890 in the laboratory. This study experimented with two main ways of culturing (MWC and distilled water with rice). The results revealed that Arcella gibbosa had shell diameter (42.12 - 59.10 µm), shell height (27.14 - 37.14 µm), and mouth diameter (8.12 - 21.01 µm). Comparing the species density of Arcella gibbosa over time in intermittent growth circumstances showed that the species density in distilled water with rice was much greater than in MWC medium. Distilled water medium supplemented with rice was shown to be more suited than MWC medium for growing Arcella gibbosa. The findings of this study would serve as the basis for further investigations into the construction of a collection of strains, strains of organisms that are difficult to culture in the laboratory, as well as research studies on environmental toxicity and biomarkers...
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
