This research is motivated by the strengthening tendency of Indonesian literary works in the last five decades to use wayang stories as inspiration for their creation. One of the literary works that uses wayang stories as inspiration for its creation is the collection of poems Kemelut Cinta Rahwana by Djoko Saryono. This collection of poems is a poet's reception of the Ramayana, especially the story of the character Rahwana. Based on this context, this study aims to describe (1) the stereotypical form of the mythical figure of Rahwana in the collection of poems and (2) the counter-myth of the character of Rahwana in the collection of poems. To achieve this goal, this research uses reception aesthetic theory developed by Wolfgang Iser. This is a qualitative research with a descriptive design. The data for this research were obtained from the book collection of poetry Kemelut Cinta Rahwana by Djoko Saryono and Enslikopedi Wayang Indonesia Aksara D-E-F. The results of this study are (1) the poet still maintains the mythical stereotype of the character Rahwana which has been known to the general public such as a symbol of anger, greed, and arrogance; and (2) apart from maintaining mythical stereotypes, the poet also performs counter myths, which include (i) Rahwana as a character who accepts his destiny, (ii) Rahwana as a character who sincerely loves Sita, and (iii) Rahwana as a wise character. Salah satu karya sastra yang menggunakan cerita wayang sebagai inspirasi penciptaannya adalah kumpulan puisi Kemelut Cinta Rahwana karya Djoko Saryono. Kumpulan puisi tersebut merupakan resepsi penyair terhadap kitab Ramayana, khususnya kisah tokoh Rahwana. Berdasarkan konteks tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan (1) bentuk stereotip mitos tokoh Rahwana dalam kumpulan puisi tersebut dan (2) kontra mitos tokoh Rahwana yang terdapat dalam kumpulan puisi tersebut. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan teori estetika resepsi yang dikembangkan oleh Wolfgang Iser. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari buku kumpulan puisi Kemelut Cinta Rahwana karya Djoko Saryono dan buku Ensiklopedi Wayang Indonesia Aksara D-E-F. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) penyair masih mempertahankan stereotip mitos tokoh Rahwana yang selama ini sudah dikenal khalayak ramai seperti sebagai lambang angkara murka, serakah, dan angkuh; dan (2) selain mempertahankan stereotip mitos, penyair juga melakukan kontra mitos yang antara lain (i) Rahwana sebagai tokoh yang menerima takdirnya, (ii) Rahwana sebagai tokoh yang mencintai Sita secara tulus, dan (iii) tokoh Rahwana sebagai tokoh yang bijaksana. Abstract-This study aims at exploring the animal characters that can interact with human in Novel O, a semifable novel by Eka Kurniawan, using the perspective of animal studies. Results show that Eka Kurniawan makes animals as the major characters in his novel, of which are able to interact with human. According to the notion of socio-politics, animal is simply an illustration of recent human beings either in Indonesia or in a more universal context. In addition, based on Sartre's philosophy, animal and human have freedoms including but not limited to freedom of thinking and acting. They also have a right to transform into anything as long as they are responsible for any possible consequences. In connection with the law of human relation, human beings must respect among others, animals and nearby environments, due to the fact that the three of them are interlinked components of life.
Kelokalitasan suatu daerah dapat ditelusuri melalui karya sastra berupa cerpen yang memotret keunikan budaya. Madura sebagai daerah dengan ragam budaya yang kental dapat dipelajari dan diulas lebih lanjut melalui cerpen-cerpen karya penulis Madura. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan nilai lokalitas budaya Madura dalam cerpen-cerpen karya Muna Masyari menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi dokumen. Sebagai dokumen, karya sastra digunakan untuk menelusuri rekam budaya masyarakat. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa kata-kata dan kalimat yang menunjukkan narasi dan perilaku yang memuat nilai lokalitas budaya Madura yang kuat berupa carok, pemaknaan hantaran dalam pernikahan, serta ritual tari yang berhubungan dengan mitos di masyarakat. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kumpulan cerpen Martabat Kematian karya Muna Masyari dan dipilih 3 cerpen berjudul Celurit Warisan, Rumah Hantaran, dan Topeng Gulur. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data dengan menyeleksi, mengklasifikasi, dan mengorganisasikan data sesuai fokus tujuan; penyajian data dengan menyusun, menyajikan dan membahas temuan; serta simpulan dengan menarik hubungan temuan dan pengambilan tindakan. Hasil analisis data dan pembahasan nilai lokalitas budaya Madura, meliputi: (1) budaya carok masyarakat Madura, (2) pemberian hantaran pada mempelai wanita, dan (3) ritual meminta hujan masyarakat Madura. Muna Masyari dengan penggambaran cerita yang detail mampu memperkenalkan nilai lokalitas budaya Madura melalui sikap-sikap tokoh terhadap adat yang berlaku di masyarakat. Paparan mengenai nilai lokalitas budaya Madura dapat dimanfaatkan pembaca untuk mengenal dan menggali budaya Madura serta dapat meningkatkan kecintaan pembaca mempelajari budaya antardaerah.Kata Kunci: nilai lokalitas, carok, hantaran, mitos The value of Madura cultural locality in Muna Masyari's short storiesAbstractThe locality of an area can be searched through literary works in the form of poetry that reflect the culture. Madura as an area with a variety of cultures that can be studied and studied further through a book by the author of Madura. This study aims to describe the value of Madurese cultural locality in Muna Masyari's short stories using a qualitative approach to document study. As documents, literary works are used to trace the cultural track record of the community. The data collected are in the form of words and sentences that show narratives and behaviors that contain strong local values of Madurese culture in the form of carok, the meaning of delivery in marriage, as well as dance rituals related to myths in society. The source of the data for this research is a collection of short stories entitled Dignity of Death by Muna Masyari and selected 3 short stories entitled Celurit Heritage, Rumah Hantaran, and Topeng Gulung. The data analysis technique was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction by selecting, classifying, and organizing data according to the focus of the objective; presenting data by compiling, presenting and discussing findings; and conclusions by drawing the relationship between the findings and taking action. The results of data analysis and discussion of the value of Madurese cultural locality, include: (1) the carok culture of the Madurese community, (2) giving gifts to the bride, and (3) the ritual of asking for rain for the Madurese community. Muna Masyari with a detailed story depiction is able to introduce the value of Madurese cultural locality through the attitudes of leaders towards the prevailing customs in society. Exposure to the value of Madurese cultural locality can be used by readers to recognize and explore Madurese culture and can increase the reader's love of studying interregional culture.Keywords: locality value, carok, delivery, myth
This article describes the use, function and development of the folk songs of West Kalimantan, Tundang the supporting community by relating them to the cultural elements. Tundang, as one of the oral folklore in folk songs, can be used for learning in schools with cooperation between the teachers and the students. The preservation of the songs of the people of West Kalimantan can make changes to the preservation of other cultures by elevating them to a performance art that can be developed, namely increasing their coaching and expanding the area of its spread.
