The crisis of COVID-19 and the lockdowns announced in all countries of the world in early 2020 affected all people and areas of the economy, including education. In this regard, universities around the world were quickly forced to transform the educational process into a distance format. Thus, the article analyses the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning and teaching for students, as well as the peculiarities of the response of universities to actual challenge. The article presents the results of scientific-theoretical and applied research on the problem of providing distance learning at a high-quality level. The authors used the case of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, which was one of the first in Ukraine in 2020 to introduce a powerful distance educational platform “KNU Online”. The scientific novelty of the study is that the authors analysed the current state of higher education in a pandemic and made a forecast of possible changes in the market of educational services using ICT. In addition, in the period of turbulence, the processes are analysed, when free economic zones are actively inclined to find innovative ways to increase their own level of competition and provide educational services on quality and continuous basis. It is proposed to use the case “KNU Online” as a good practice to obtain all the necessary range of educational services in the most accessible and convenient way.
The rapid development of information technology provides high growth rates of e-commerce. Today, e-business plays an important role in the structure of economies of advanced countries. In Ukraine, it develops more slowly than in neighbouring countries due to economic, social and political instability, low purchasing capacity of the population, lower demand for goods and services, devaluation of hryvnia, currency fluctuations, etc. However, domestic economists predict that the importance of e-commerce for the Ukrainian economy will increase annually. In such circumstances, the issue of identifying relationships between e-commerce and investment in research and development with the country's economic development becomes relevant as well as finding of tools for measuring the extent of e-commerce's impact on economic growth. The aim of the article is to construct a set of economic and mathematical models to assess the impact of e-commerce and investment in research and development on the country's economic development. Comparing the results of modelling in three countries, it has been determined that the value of e-commerce and R&D expenditures is more significant for GDP per capita growth in Ukraine and Poland due to the higher level of ICT development in Austria and its approximation to the saturation point relative to the growth rates of innovation industries. While comparing the levels of exposure to e-commerce and R&D costs in these countries, it was found that e-commerce occupies the first position only in Austria. While analysing the parameters of the models of three countries, it has been determined that GDP per capita is the most sensitive to changes in the indicators in the Ukrainian model. That demonstrates that the economy of Ukraine is less stable compared to Poland and Austria. Expenditure on R&D and e-commerce has a significant impact on the country's economic development and contributes to increasing of gross domestic product and productivity of manufacture.
The aim of the paper is to determine to what extent the strengthening of the transparency of the Ukrainian economy and its incorporation in international tax competition affects the tax policy of the country and the peculiarities of its tax system. In the study, the logical analysis of the direct and inverse relationship of changes in taxation with such manifestations of globalization, as the movement of capital and labor resources from Ukraine and to the country, is combined with an empirical (regression) analysis of the relationship between globalization and the main characteristics of the Ukrainian tax system. It is proved that the increase of incorporation of Ukraine in globalization processes, despite the reduction of taxes on the main factors of production, is accompanied by an increase in the general level of tax burden on the economy (tax rate). The above mentioned is a consequence of increase of other taxes, including excise, caused both by internal needs of Ukraine (conducting the policy of fiscal consolidation caused by large public debt, and increasing defense expenditures) and its international obligations (EU Association Agreement). The tax system in Ukraine is much stronger (about 25%) influenced by the general index of globalization in comparison with its subindex characterizing the economic component of globalization. Obviously, this is owing to the greater influence on taxation in Ukraine of other components of globalization such as political and social one. The results show that the growth of the globalization index is accompanied by rather expected effects such as reduction of corporate profit tax rates and personal income tax, transferring the tax burden from capital to labor and, to a greater extent, on consumption, improving business conditions in the context of tax payments, and specific increase in the general level of tax burden on the economy, significant losses of the state that is not so much from the reduction of tax rates as from the erosion of the tax base on income, which is the result of a combination of negative effects of external and internal factors; the threat of escalating the policy of low tax rates. It is recommended to the Ukrainian Government to focus increasingly on the tax evolution trends in post-socialist EU countries to strengthen Ukraine`s position in tax competition with this group of countries.
Purpose:The objective of this study involves the determination of data-driven solutions needed to increase the usability of e-commerce systems and its profitability. Design/Methodology/Approach: In the research implementation process, logic generalization and induction to identify and analyze the most beneficial data science tools in e-commerce. deign of the study is to generalize existing approaches of data science usage in e-commerce, to develop practical recommendations to ensure the competitive advantages of e-commerce market participants and to estimate the cost of technical tools needed to launch the data science project in e-commerce. Findings: The results clearly demonstrate that in 2020 businesses that have e-commerce system were financially successful and in next 3 years online sales will increase rapidly. The simple analytics will not cover the demand of online business and it is needed to implement advanced data-driven decisions now. Practical Implications: The present research provides generalized knowledge on how to launch a data science project in e-commerce and how to choose the best programming and visualization app to ensure the profitability of a project. The scientific paper gives an instruction on the marketing contribution analysis, which is the tool of key importance for online marketplaces. Originality/Value: The main research value drawn from the study is to launch the datadriven models in e-commerce company it is needed to observe the real business need and available data, find the best programming and visualization tools. It was defined that the most beneficial data science solutions are demand forecasting, estimation of the marketing contribution, customers clustering, recommendation system and customers' attitude analysis. The main business need for each e-commerce company is to estimate the contribution of all marketing channels and advertisement formats separately. This issue may be easily handled with a regression modelling, which helps to understand a set of factors influencing sales.
