Introduction: Self-care management is the fundamental approach for Heart Failure (HF) management and is influenced by patient ability in preventing rehospitalization, mortality, and morbidity. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the predictors of a patient’s ability in HF self-care management. Design and Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 96 patients with HF. The data were collected through interviews using questionnaires on demographic characteristics, physical activity (IPAQ), knowledge (Dutch Heart Failure Knowledge Score), and self-care management (Self Care Heart Failure Index). Subsequently, the data were analyzed using logistic regression analysis, and the best fit model for predicting self-care management in HF patients was generated. Results: The proportion of samples was 56.3% female, with mostly primary school (50%) as their education level. Furthermore, the proportion of patients with adequate HF self-care management was only 21% of the total participant. Based on the results, the patient’s physical activity level, HF knowledge, and gender were verified as a predictor of self-care management. Conclusions: The HF knowledge level, physical activity level, and gender were the predictors of HF self-care management.
Malnutrition is among the most common nutritional problems in children worldwide. Specifically, stunting as a malnutrition problem is a global priority, including in Indonesia. This study analyses the effect of nutrition education interventions on maternal feeding knowledge, maternal feeding attitudes and children’s weight. A quasi-experimental design using a pre-and post-test was selected and with a total sample of 70 people were assigned to an experimental and control group. This study was conducted in Jember Regency on July 2022, and the instrument used in this research were knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) questionnaires from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). A Bivariate analysis showed that the nutritional education intervention had a significant relationship with increased maternal feeding knowledge and attitude and children’s weight in the control group and intervention group (p-value <0.05). However, a higher score was on the intervention group score compared to the control group. Meanwhile, the average weight of the children in the intervention group increased by about 331.42 grams, which higher compare to the control group’s average weight gain. This study concluded that health education about eating, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, through an action-oriented group approach can significantly increase maternal feeding knowledge, attitudes, and children’s weight.
The technology-based daily recording of children's dietary is expected to be able to provide an easier overview of children nutritional status. So, it will reduce the number of nutritional imbalances in children. This research aimed to know determine the effectiveness of children's daily dietary recording with an application to estimate children's nutritional needs. The research method was used a literature review study. Result: From the results of the study, it was concluded that the use of food recording applications, either use photos or not, provide increased information on children's daily nutrition. The application allows an estimation of the food portion and nutrition of children's diet. It may become a benchmark for parents or health workers in providing children's diets. The dietary assessment application can be used both in the community and in hospitals to monitor children nutrition status. It is recommended that further research to include food waste in the calculation so that the daily energy estimate is more accurate.
