Aspirin may be considered for the primary prevention of CV events in the elderly population. Because of the lack of data in patients 80 years of age and older, it is difficult to make a decision on the initiation of aspirin therapy in this population. Additional research is necessary to better balance the risk versus benefit of this treatment option.
