Herba nanas kerang (Tradescantia spathacea Sw.) termasuk famili Commelinacea, secara tradisional digunakan untuk mengobati beberapa penyakit. Keamanan dan kualitas simplesia sangat penting sebagai bahan baku obat tradisional. Kajian farmakognosi diperlukan untuk karakteristik simplisia dan melengkapi data monografi ekstrak dengan mengevaluasi parameter kualitatif meliputi pengamatan organoleptik, makroskopik, mikroskopik, skrining fitokimia, pola kromatogram, fluoresensi dan pengukuran parameter kuantitatif yang meliputi penentuan kadar abu total, kadar abu tidak larut asam, kadar sari larut air, kadar sari larut etanol, kadar air dan kadar flavonoid total. Herba nanas kerang memiliki warna serbuk hijau kecoklatan, bau khas, tidak memiliki rasa, makroskopik herba memiliki tipe daun lanset, ujung runcing, warna permukaan hijau, permukaan bawah ungu tua. Batang bulat, herbaceous dengan akar utama tunggang. Mikroskopik herba terdapat fragmen pengenal seperti antosianin, epidermis bawah, stomata tipe parasitik, akar tipe poliark, berkas pengangkut dengan penebalan noktah dan spiral serta kristal jarum. Skrining fitokimia menunjukkan adanya senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin dan terpenoid. Hasil uji kuantitatif didapatkan kadar abu total 9,31%, kadar abu tidak larut asam 1,86%, kadar sari larut air 16,94%, kadar sari larut etanol 11,96%, kadar air 9,64% dan kadar flavonoid total 1,2426%/1 gram ekstrak. Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan terhadap karakteristik herba nanas kerang yang bisa melengkapi data monografi ekstrak.
Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray is one of the plants used in traditional medicine and belongs to Compositae family. In different parts of Indonesia, it is commonly known as "paitan and kembang bulan". The study provides an early description of Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray) and complete the monographs data extract. This plant prospects to the main source of the raw material for the herb-drug product and some parameters identified were needed to ensure the safety, quality and efficacy of the product. The present study is to evaluate macrosand microscopic characteristic of the Indonesian plant and its quality parameter including fluorescence, physicochemical characteristics and phytochemical screening. Moisture content, ethanol and water-soluble extract was determined, and were discovered to be 11,27%, 4,73% and 18,01%. Total ash value and acid insoluble ash value were determined which was 10.29 and 0.72 % respectively. Phytochemical screening of aqueous ethanol extract of Tithonia diversifolia showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and triterpenoids. The result showed that average content of flavonoid total is 69.1653 mg QE/g extract.
Background: Sterculia has an antioxidant activity. The Sterculia genus has phenols and flavonoids content, and this chemical content may be have an nephroprotective activity. Objective: The study was to investigate the in vitro study of antioxidant activity with DPPH and FRAP study and nephroprotective activity of Sterculia rubiginosa Zoll. Ex Miq. Leaves extract. Materials and Methods: The leaves was extracted using ethanol. This extract was determined for antioxidant activity by in vitro study with DPPH and FRAP methods, determined the content of total phenols, total flavonoids, and also identification of chemical content. Nephrotoxicity study done by induced gentamycin. The groups divided 6 group, consist: negative control, positive control, normal control, and the extract with dose 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, and 200 mg/ kg. The parameter for nephroprotective activity was tubular necrosis, the presence of tubules casts and glomerular damage, creatinine serum, and urea. Results: The ethanol extract has IC 50 162.34 µg/ml for DPPH scavenging activity and 18.65 ± 3.53 FeEAC (Mol/g) for FRAP. The secondary metabolite presence flavonoids, tannins, terpenes, alkaloids, and glycosides. The total phenols 462.36 ± 9.23 mg GAE/gr, total flavonoids content 59.44 ± 0.11 mg QE/gr extract. All the dose have an nephroprotective activity, but the best dose was 50 mg/kg. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Sterculia rubiginosa showed antioxidant activity and nephroprotective activity.
ABSTRACT Remek daging (Hemigraphis colorata W.Bull) have been studied and used traditionally for wound healing. This study aimed to determine the effect of topical application of remek daging leaves ethanolic extract 70% on the burn wound. The animals used for this study were 30 rats, divided into five groups, namely 20, 10, 5% remek daging extract ointment, negative control (vaseline flavum), and positive control (silver sulfadiazine 1%). Histology observations were held on days 3, 7, and 14 after burn wound induction. Histological observations showed an increase number of macrophages, fibroblasts, collagen density, and re-epithelialization in the extract ointment group significantly compare to the negative control (p <0.05). The application of ointment extract 20% to the rats showed comparable results to silver sulfadiazine 1% (p> 0.05). It can be concluded that remek daging ointment extract can accelerate the healing of burn wounds with the best results at a concentration of 20%. Keywords: Hemigraphis colorata, burns, macrophages, fibroblasts, collagen. ABSTRAK Remek daging (Hemigraphis colorata W.Bull) telah diteliti dan digunakan untuk penyembuhan luka secara tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol 70% daun remek daging secara topikal pada luka bakar tikus putih. Hewan yang digunakan adalah 30 ekor tikus yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok salep ekstrak daun remek daging 20, 10, 5% (%b/b), kontrol negatif (vaselin flavum) dan kontrol positif (silver sulfadiazine 1% (%b/b)). Pengamatan secara histologi dilakukan pada hari ke 3, 7 dan 14 setelah induksi luka bakar. Pengamatan histologi menunjukkan peningkatan jumlah makrofag, jumlah fibroblas, kepadatan kolagen dan ketebalan re-epitelisasi pada kelompok salep ekstrak daun remek daging secara signifikan dibandingkan kontrol negatif (p<0,05). Tikus yang diberikan perlakuan salep ekstrak 20% menunjukkan hasil sebanding dengan silver sulfadiazin 1% (p>0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa salep ekstrak daun remek daging dapat mempercepat penyembuhan luka bakar dengan hasil terbaik pada konsentrasi 20%.
