The aim of this paper is to explore the process of parallel importing in the aspect of international companies trademarks intellectual property rights in the Russian Federation and EEU countries and the opportunities and challenges it provides for both manufacturers and importers. The problem of importing products labeled with trademarks through parallel import channels to Russia is being considered using the schemes for the importation of counterfeit goods into Russia through EEU countries. The analysis shows that there are the problems with the application of the mechanisms of trademarks customs protection in practice. The main problem is the lack of unified legislation for intellectual property protection in EEU members.
The purpose of this scientific paper is to assess the national cultures proximity impact on the effectiveness of regional economic integration in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). To assess the cultural proximity (distance) of the countries, the criteria developed by Hofstede were used and the cultural proximity (distance) of each country in the EAEU was calculated using the formulas developed by Kogut and Singh, which made it possible to assess the cultural proximity of the EAEU countries. The article also assesses the impact of cultural proximity (distance) on the effectiveness of mutual trade between the countries of Eurasian integration using the trade gravity model. Calculations showed that the cultural proximity of the countries of integration does not significantly affect the mutual trade of the EAEU countries. However, the commonality of the language used in the country is the only cultural factor, the presence of which in a pair of trading countries increases trade.
This article assesses the impact of special economic measures on the commodity and geographical structure and dynamics of the Russian Federation border region`s (the Pskov region) foreign trade with the countries of Europe. Using a three-stage analysis scheme, the authors assessed the foreign trade potential and foreign trade activity of the Pskov region in the context of Eurasian integration processes and the special economic measures application in relation to imports from Europe; identified factors, effects and directions of the analyzed region border trade transformation. It has been established that in this context, transformations are manifested in the strengthening of foreign trade flows imbalance and reorientation, the negative structural commodity trade tendencies and the illegal imports growth in the framework of Eurasian integration, and an asymmetry increase in the border regions` economic development.
The article is devoted to the analysis and assessment of the relationship between innovative and sustainable development of economies in the context of Eurasian integration. Using a two-stage methodological approach, the authors assess the level of innovative development of the EAEU countries and investigate the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the innovative activities of enterprises and the growth of high-tech exports, which serves as the basis for achieving sustainable development of the integration association. Conclusions were obtained about the ambiguity and inconsistency of the calculation model results for individual members of the integration association, connected with different starting levels of innovative development of the EAEU countries, as well as a number of other factors.
The authors propose to consider certain aspects of sustainable tourism development and assess their contribution to the development of the economies of the EAEU countries. The article provides an assessment of the development of ecological tourism in the EAEU countries, based on existing indicators, including evaluation of the level of competitiveness of tourism, the development of special protection conservation areas, data on environmental education and tourism activities on the territory of the state wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. The authors draw conclusions about the need to create a unified policy and regulatory framework for the development of ecological tourism in the EAEU, to work out a system of indicators and to create tourism assessment methodology for sustainable development. Besides, it is important to introduce a set of measures for information, marketing and staffing to develop ecotourism in the EAEU countries. Competitiveness in ecotourism remains low.
