This paper compiles and analyzes some of the most current works related to upper limb prosthesis with emphasis on man-machine interfaces. A brief introduction of the basic subjects is given to explain what a prosthesis is, what types of prostheses exist, what they serve for, how they communicate with the user (control and feedback), and what technologies are involved. The method used in this review is also discussed, as well as the cataloging process and analysis of articles for the composition of this review. Each article is analyzed individually and its results are presented in a succinct way, in order to facilitate future research and serve as a source for professionals related to the area of prosthesis, such as doctors, engineers, researchers, and anyone interested in this subject. Finally, the needs and difficulties of the current prostheses, as well as the negative and positive points in the results are analyzed, and the progress achieved so far is discussed.
Rationale, aims and objectives: This study investigated the process of construction, use, and field evaluation of a mobile application for teaching in the anesthesiology area.Method: The application was built by using the Co-Design Methodology, which consists of five phases (scoping, shared understanding, brainstorming, refinement and implementation). A one-week case study was carried out in a hospital involving 20 participants (medical students and residents). Results:The results of the test indicated that the developed application presented a high level of usability. Conclusions:The students considered it to be a useful tool for training and systematizing the preoperative evaluation.
Androgenetic alopecia is often treated by follicular unit transplantation, a technique that involves minimal risk of hair loss because of the more resistant nature of the donor area. Lichen planopilaris is a cicatricial alopecia that causes permanent destruction of hair follicles. We report two cases of post-transplantation lesions compatible with lichen planopilaris in both recipient and donor areas. The quality of the hair follicles in the donor area was apparently compromised by lichen planopilaris, the probable cause of hair loss. Similar reports are rare. When lichen planopilaris is suspected, a biopsy of the scalp must be performed to avoid transplantation during disease activity. O líquen plano pilar é uma alopecia cicatricial com permanente destruição pilosa. Este artigo relata dois casos de lesões compatíveis com líquen plano pilar em áreas receptora e doadora pós-transplante. A dominância da área doadora foi aparentemente sobrepujada pelo líquen plano pilar, que deve ter gerado a queda dos fios. Relatos semelhantes são raros. À suspeita de líquen plano pilar, devese biopsiar o couro cabeludo e evitar o transplante durante a atividade da doença.
Contribution: Considering the rapidity of the emergence of new technologies in the modern world, it is necessary to identify and describe potential educational innovations and technologies used as tools for improving healthcare students anatomy learning in the last years. The key contribution of this study is to indicate implementation and other challenges to be overcome. Background: Extensive research demonstrated that several different innovative methods have been used for anatomy teaching. Based on these findings, discussing the most recent existing technologies may be worthwhile. Research Questions: What innovative technologies are being used as tools for improving healthcare students Anatomy learning? What are the main challenges and perspectives related to them? Methodology: This review discussed studies published from 2019 to 2021 found in Embase, IEEE Digital Library, Pubmed, ScienceDirect and Web of Science. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were established and a quality assessment was conducted aiming to mitigate biases and systematic errors. Findings: The databases electronic search identified 149 references and only 10 studies met the minimum cutoff score and were discussed. Compared to traditional methods, alternative learning technologies are excellent ways to improve and transform the education in the health’ system, making it more efficient, economic, practical and accessible.
