ResumoNa usina de Cubatão da Usiminas, as bobinadeirasdo laminador de tiras a quente 2 (LTQ2) têm capacidade nominal de produzir materiais com espessura de até 20,0 mm. Devido a possibilidade de atender a demanda de materiais com dimensionais acima das especificações do equipamento, foi conduzido um projeto para a análise de capacidade visando atender a nova demanda de mercado. Com a premissa de preservar a integridade da máquina,foram avaliados os seus limites eletromecânicosatravésde análise estatística de variáveis e simulações numéricas, que resultaram na determinaçãodos setups das variáveis de controle, a fim de viabilizar o processamento do material nas bobinadeiras. Após o processamento do lote trial,foi possível avaliar que a eficiência da metodologia utilizada para parametrização do processo mostrou-se bastante satisfatória, permitindo a expansão da capacidade máxima das bobinadeirasrespeitando seus limitesgarantindo a sua integridade, bem como a expansãodo portfólio de produtos laminados a quente da Usiminas. AbstractAt Usiminas Cubatão, the down coilers of Hot Strip Mill have the nominal capacity to produce materials with a thickness of up to 20,0mm. Due to the possibility of supplying the demand for materials with dimensions that exceed the equipment capability, a methodology was used to analyze the possibility of the equipment to offer a new market demand. With a premise to preserve theequipment integrity, the electromechanical limits of the down coilers were evaluated and by means of statistical tools and simulation were defined the setups and control variables in order to make feasible the material processing. At the final step after the processing of a test lot, it was possible to evaluate the methodology used for parameterization of the process and to be quite satisfactory allowing that was explored the maximum capacity of the down coilers within the limits and ensuring the equipment integrity and expanding the Usiminas portfolio.
