The rapidly changing world determines changes in the business processes. Logistics and transport are the areas facing constant changes. Therefore, an important point is to analyse the current problems of logistics and transport within the context of the changing environment. For many years, the experts of the Dept of Logistics and Transport Management of the Faculty of Transport Engineering from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University have been pursuing research both, in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) in Lithuania and foreign countries. This research has been directed toward improvements to logistics and the entire supply chain in pursuit of economic, social and ecological competitiveness, an increase in the competitiveness and attractiveness of the transport system in the context of sustainable development, the impact of this system on the economic and social welfare of society, an increase in the competitiveness and attractiveness of the transport sector of improving the legal framework and the application of innovative technologies (including IT) in the transport sector aimed at implementing economic and social cohesion goals. The article deals with some of the key issues of the above introduced research.
It has long been acknowledged that effective learning is grounded on opportunities to explore problems and think critically, thus creating solid base for knowledge economy development. In this vein, there have been concentrated reform initiatives across many content areas that have integrated authentic and student-driven instructional approaches. Within the context of the 21st century education paradigm, the acquisition and development of new competencies and technical skills require new authentic learning methods. The growing popularity of the project-based learning paradigm, is related to extended opportunities in terms of knowledge attainment, facilitating the acquisition of several transversal competences such as team work, search and collection of information and synthesis and analysis abilities. However, PBL learning strategies should be developed in compliance with the educational challenges faced by the new technique’s implementation. In the light of this reasoning, this paper presents a literature review on PBL and discusses PBL’s implementation opportunities and challenges faced by academic staff, business representatives and students. A key point is to highlight the concept of networking among teachers, students and the business sector.

This survey is focussed on distance learning studies, where there can be met a lot of technical obstacles, which creates complications in decision making. To get an ideal solution for these kinds of problems, the Fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution) is one of the best solutions. Therefore, this paper presents the distance learning quality assessment surveys when the Fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and TOPSIS methods are used. Research results describe the application of the Fuzzy AHP—TOPSIS hybrid method. MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision Making) programs with MATLAB (R2020b) mathematical package were written to calculate the evaluation results for three distance learning courses. In the practical implementation of the proposed distance learning module evaluation methodology, the experts’ evaluation method was applied. Thirty-four judges were chosen with specific knowledge and skills and with very different competencies to assess three alternatives by fourteen criteria. Following the experts’ evaluation, a statistical analysis method was used to process the data. After applying the complex evaluation, the comparative analysis method was used to summarize the obtained results. This work further provides useful guidelines for the development of an easily understandable hierarchy of criteria model that reflects the main goal of study quality assessment.
