We introduce a new method for the determination of the Generalized Admittance Matrix of a rectangular waveguide section loaded with a dielectric inset of arbitrary shape. A State Space -Integral Equation approach is applied which leads to the pole expansion of the admittance matrix in the s -domain.
IntroductionAs illustrated in other works [1] [2], the State SpaceIntegral Equation (SS-IE) Method is quite efficient for the wideband modeling of passive waveguides and quasiplanar integrated circuits. The dimension of the statespace model obtained by this approach is much smaller than that obtained in other ways (e.g. FEM-based algorithms [4]). This means that model order reduction is not mandatory. Furthermore, the reduced computing time and the limited memory requirements make this method well suited for inclusion in efficient CAD tools. In [3] we introduced the application of the SS-IE method to the determination of the General Admittance Matrix (GAM) of a rectangular waveguide section including a homogeneous cylindric dielectric inset, in a simple 2D case. The extension to the 3D case, which is not trivial, is outlined in this paper.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
