Hall effect and the Conductivity in a low electric field and the conductivity in a pulsed high electric dc-field were investigated on carefully prepared and long-time annealed samples. The reproducible experimental findings obtained at largely undistorted crystals were compared with calculated values. The calculations were carried o u t for a simple isotropic but non-parabolic energy band model and for different scattering mechanisms. The result, which states that the temperature dependence of the mobility within the range extending from 65 to 180X as well as the field dependence of drift velocity up to approximately 1.5 kV/cm, can be explained only by means of polar optical scattering for a partlbolic energy band structure, can serve as a starting point for more detaiIed analyses.Es wurden an sorgfiltig priiparierten und langzeitig getemperten Proben zugleich der Halleffekt und die Leitfahigkeit im schwachen elektrischen Feld und die Leitfahigkeit im starken elelctrischen Gleichfeld untersucht. Die rsproduzierbaren experimentellen Befunde an weitgehend storurigsfreien Kristzllen werden mit berechneten Werten verglichen. Die Rachnungen wurden fur ein einfaches isotropes, aber nichtparabolisches Bandstrukturmodel1 sowie verschiedene Streumechanismen durchgefiihrt. Das Resultat, daS sowohl die Temperaturabhangigkeit der Beweglichkeit im Bereich 65 bis 180 K als auch die Feldabhangigkeit der Driftgeschwindigkeit b k etwa 1,5 kV/cm allein mit polarer optischer Streuung bei parabolischer Bandstruktur erklart werden konnen, kann als Anhaltspunkt f u r weitergehende Analysen dienen.
The optical properties of Hgl-,-,Cd,Mn,Se (z = 0.09 to 0,ll. y = 0.02 to 0.03) single crystals are investigated by means of infrared transmission and photoluminescence. The photoluminescence is promoted by manganese doping. The presence of Mn significantly improves the structure of mercury selenides. The optical dielectric constant, refractive index, and energy gap are determined as functions of temperature.Die optischen Eigenschaften von Hgl -,-,Cd,Mn,,Se (z = 0,09 bis 0 , l l ; y = 0,02 bis 0,03) wurden rnittels Infrarottransmission und Photolumineszenz untersucht. Das Auftreten von Photolumineszenz wird durch die Mangandotierung des Materials begunstigt. Das Vorhandensein von Mn verbessert die strukturellen Eigenschaften der Quecksilberselenide. Die optische Dielektrizitatskonstante, der Brechungsindex und die Bandliicke wurden in Abhangigkeit von der Temperatur bestimmt .
The peculiarities of the exchange interaction between the carrier spin and localized spin moments of magnetic ions near the semimetal-semiconductor transition have been studied in a semimagnetic quaternary solid solution system, Hg 1−x−y Cd x Mn y Se (x = 0.10, y = 0.02, E g = 45 meV), by means of Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations. The measurements show that the exchange 'constant' α is actually a somewhat complicated function α of energy gap E g and electron concentration, which changes from negative values ( αN 0 = −0.15 eV) at lower electron concentration to positive values ( αN 0 = 0.28 eV) at higher electron concentration, values which are more typically associated with wide-gap semimagnetic semiconductors.
