This paper presents the argument that the practice of modern theatre constitutes a crucial method for reorienting the particular traumas of the Chinese diaspora in contemporary Taiwan. In particular, it offers a close reading of Far Away from Home (西出陽關, Xichu yangguan, 1988) by Taiwanese playwright Lee Kuohsiu (李國修, 1955‒2013) and its performance archive of 2004. Lee deploys theatre as a negotiating space in which to reflect the social formations, identities, and history of Taiwan in the late 1980s—a period that saw Taiwan’s complicated relationship with China become the subject of intense scrutiny as the Cold War came to an end and the pressures of rapid globalisation mounted.
We present the design and characteristics of laser Doppler differential velocimeter using a dual-core photonic crystal fiber (DC-PCF). Transmission modes and mode interference characteristics of DC-PCF were investigated. Results show that higher order modes and cladding modes are excited, which can be cut off by bending the DC-PCF. The independent fundamental modes of two cores are clearly obtained. The mode interference near the distal end of DC-PCF was observed, and the interference process from independent faculae to the interaction of two core beams is presented. The velocimeter demonstrates a good working distance ($30 lm) and a small measuring volume ($273.4 lm 3 ), which is well suited for flow measurement in micro-scale fluidic channels. The velocity measurement is successfully demonstrated by observing the frequency modulation and the spacing of the fringe projected interference. The measurements are verified and in good agreement with the results obtained by the light gate sensor.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
