A swelling Na-4-mica of the brittle mica type (ideal chemical composition of Na 4 Mg 6 Al 4 Si 4 O 20 F 4 ?xH 2 O) was prepared by a simpli®ed one-step synthetic process from kaolinite at or below 800 ³C. Hydrated and welldispersed Na-4-mica particles of about 2 mm in size were prepared at 800 ³C. The 27 Al MAS-NMR spectrum of this mica showed that almost all Al was in tetrahedral coordination while the 29 Si MAS-NMR spectrum showed that the nearest neighbor environment of Si was mainly Si(3Al), as expected based on the Si : Al molar ratio of 1 : 1 in the Na-4-mica. The CEC of the mica was determined to be 447 mequiv (100 g) 21 . With this Na-4-mica, the Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu and Ba uptake kinetics were investigated in a 0.5 M NaCl background solution at room temperature and were found to be quite rapid.
Isolation and characterisation of the first Li/halogen phosphinidenoid transition-metal complex as well as low-temperature solution NMR, MAS-NMR experiments, DFT structures and calculated NMR chemical shifts are reported.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
