Starting from the naive principle that a text-to-speech system should imitate natural speech äs closely äs possible, the main concern of this project is to make a stocktaking of sandln phenomena in the natural speech of the model Speaker. Next, diphone speech of the model Speaker is evaluated in order to decide which sandln phenomena are and which are not already implicitly present in the diphones. Those that are not implicitly present have to be (explicitly) accounted for by rule in the transcription module MORPHON.
