Erratum: The cubic susceptibility dispersion of Alkoxynitrostilbene (MONS) and Dialkylaminonitrostilbene (DANS) side chain substituted polymers: Comparison with the twolevel model [J. Chem. The cubic susceptibility dispersion of Alkoxynitrostilbene (MONS) and Dialkylaminonitrostilbene (DANS) side chain substituted polymers: Comparison with the twolevel modelThe one-and two-photon optical absorption spectra as well as the frequency dependent third-harmonic generation response of a side-chain polymer containing 4-dialkylamino-4Ј-nitro-stilbene ͑DANS͒ as its side group have been measured over a wide range of frequency. A three-state model, based on an intermediate neglect of differential overlap/multireference double-configuration interaction description of the excited states, provides a coherent picture of the dynamic response of DANS, but fails in reproducing the red shift observed when going from the linear to the nonlinear absorption spectra; including vibronic coupling within the Franck-Condon approximation improves the fit.
The two photon absorption spectrum has been measured in the 780–1600 nm range for a di-alkyl-amino-nitro-stilbene side-chain polymer. A single two photon peak centered at 920 nm is observed with a peak two photon coefficient of 5.5 cm/GW. Bleaching via two photon absorption at this wavelength is investigated by measuring a refractive index change after an intensive exposure.
ZnO thin films were sputter deposited onto oxidized silicon wafers. The film quality increased with increasing applied r.f. power. Characterization of the films was performed by measurements of the attenuation of the transverse electric TE o optical guided mode. For an applied r.f. power of 2000 W, the deposition rate was 220 nm min-1, resulting in a mode attenuation of only 1.6 dB cm-1 for a film 0.8 p.m thick. The refractive indices of the films were 99.5~o (ordinary index) and 99.8~o (extraordinary index) of the single-crystal values. The step coverage on etched SiO 2 profiles appeared to be very smooth, which simplifies the creation of waveguiding channels. The optical behaviour of multilayered waveguides consisting of ZnO and SiO2 films was studied. A prototype of a mode coupler in such a multilayer showed the feasibility of efficient electro-optic modulation in ZnO-based waveguides.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
