During life-threatening situations such as the Covid-19 pandemic, disinformation is rife. While people project their affective aspects into understanding the situation, their fear of Covid-19 interferes with their logical and reasonable assessment of disinformation. Less credible information such as rumors becomes reliable for some people. This study aims to map the disinformation category based on the Ministry of Communication and Information report from January to March 2020. There are 359 hoaxes with five categories and 30 sub-categories. This study uses qualitative content analysis as a method. The study results revealed that most of the disinformation during the Covid-19 pandemic was related to the spread of hoaxes on health issues. This research implies that several recommendations are made to respond to the urgency of handling disinformation during Covid-19 in Indonesia, such as initiating digital literacy and media literacy in the national education system.
Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah/MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, thereafter called MSMEs) is one of the business sectors playing significant roles in the economic growth of Indonesia. The increase of MSMEs pushes the State Minister for Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to encourage MSME performance by enhancing their quality. One attempt taken is to apply information and communication technology, especially social media, to promote the products. In reality, many MSMEs lack sufficient understanding of social media usage in business. As a result, many MSMEs have difficulties identifying online media consumer behavior in developing their marketing strategies. This researchattempts to map consumer behavior in social mediaand explores how MSMEs can capitalize on the marketing powers of social media. This research uses a netnography method for mapping online consumer behaviour. Primary data are collected from observations of online interaction between consumers and sellers (MSMEs). The results are analyzed using Philip Kotler’s Consumer Behavior Model and Kozinet’s Online Consumer model.
Therapeutic communication is a relatively new area of research in Indonesia. It is widely known that the success of therapeutic communication is largely influenced by the medical providers’ communication effectiveness when dealing with their clients. This paper reports on research that aimed to explore the connection between therapeutic communication and satisfaction and dissatisfaction as experienced by families of child cancer patients. It used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample was the families of child cancer patients who were acccompanying the patients during hospital stay treatment at an Indonesian public hospital in Jakarta over the period December of 2014 – March 2015. There were 23 respondents for the research. The statistical test used was chi-square with an 0.05 level of significance. The result indicated that 56.5% of the respondents were satisfied with the therapeutic communication provided by nursing staff and that those who praticed therapeutic communication well, were 22 times more likely to provide a satisfactory level to the families of child cancer patients compared with those who did not apply good therapeutic communication (the value of p=0.003 and Odds ratio= 22). Thus, the research indicated that the medical providers’ communication effectiveness was associated with the patients’ satisfaction. We suggest that medical providers be given workshops on how to improve their communication skills to make their clients more satisfied with the medical services.
The Covid-19 pandemic that hit the world has changed human life in all areas of life, including education. In education, learning and instruction are important to higher education students. Covid-19 affected learning design from face-to-face learning in the class become distance learning. Many things need to be fixed and updated in terms of materials and platforms used. The study's purpose is to analyze the role of distance learning media using podcasts in higher education. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to show the need for distance learning innovation by using podcast media as an additional alternative platform to answer distance learning challenges. The results showed that the podcast system in the form of recordings made it easier for students to listen to the material presented by the instructor. Podcasts made students enthusiastic about learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
