STKIP Paracendekia NW Sumbawa is an educational institution that deals in English education and mathematics education. STKIP Paracendekia NW Sumbawa organizes new student admissions every year. In organizing the admission of new students, STKIP Paracendekia NW Sumbawa still uses a manual system that is by recording all registrants using books and registration forms are still stored in a cupboard. This makes it difficult for the organizing committee to manage data, which data will change from time to time. The solution to the problems that are happening at STKIP Paracendekia NW Sumbawa is to build a Web-Based New Student Admission Information System at STKIP Paracendekia NW Sumbawa. This system was developed using the PHP programming language by using the CodeIgniter and MysSql Framework as a database. The method used in building this system is to use the waterfall method. This system is expected to simplify and speed up the data management process for prospective new students.
This study was aimed at investigating students' perception of motivational teaching strategies in English as Foreign Language (EFL) classroom, specifically on what motivational teaching strategies do students consider important and what are their reasons of considering the strategies as important. This study was a descriptive qualitative study. The instruments employed were questionnaire and interview. Based on the findings, the motivational teaching strategies considered most important are: (1) establish good relationship with students; (2) teachers should bring humors into the classroom; (3) teachers should show their enthusiasm for teaching; (4) teachers should show students that they care about them; (5) teachers should give clear instruction about how to carry a task; (6) teachers should make sure that grades reflect students achievement and effort; (7) teachers should invite English-speaking foreigners to class; (8) teachers should use a short and interesting opening activity to start each class; (9) teachers should avoid social comparison and (10) teachers should be themselves in front of students. In addition, one of the common reasons of why students considered those motivational teaching strategies as important was because they believed that those strategies are able to boost their motivation in learning English if it is implemented by their teachers.
This research was an error analysis of the first semester students of Sumbawa University of Technology. The aims of the research were to find out what types of error that the students committed and what error that they committed the most. The research was a descriptive study, where the population of the research was all first semester students, while the sample was the students of Electrical Engineering Class which consists of 34 students. The technique of data collection was done through giving the students translation tests. The data was analyzed by identifying, classifying, and describing the errors. Based on the result of analysis, it was found that (1) there were four types of error that students committed, they were omission, addition, misordering and misformation error: (2) type of error that students committed the most was omission, and the least type of error that students committed was miordering. More research is needed to clarify why the students committed certain errors such as omission addition etc. in detail. Further research is also recommended for investigating the factors affecting students of committing the errors.
Kata Kunci: budaya, folklore, permainan, digital ABSTRAK Samawa sebagai salah satu suku terbesar di provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat, memiliki adat-istiadat yang kaya akan makna dan fungsi sosial budaya. Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi, saat ini budaya folklore mulai tersisihkan keberadaannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelusuri keberadaan folklore dalam masyarakat Sumbawa terutama pada anak-anak sebagai generasi penerus. Sejauh mana anak-anak yang lahir dan tumbuh pada era digital mengetahui atau memahami beberapa tradisi adat-istiadat para leluhur terutama yang terkandung dalam folklore Sumbawa. Diharapkan dengan adanya penelitian mengenai keberadaan folklore di masyarakat Sumbawa khususnya anak-anak pada jaman digital ini, maka akan ada usaha, aksi atau kegiatan berkelanjutan untuk semakin menjaga, memelihara serta meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya menumbuhkan kembali nilai-nilai moral yang terdapat melalui folklore Sumbawa. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini, para siswa Sekolah Dasar lebih mengenal permainan digital daripada permainan tradisional. Bagi siswa permainan tradisional kurang menarik dari permainan digital. Minat para siswa dalam memainkan permainan tradisional Sumbawa lebih rendah dari permainan digital. Informasi mengenai permainan tradisional lebih sedikit dibandingkan informasi mengenai permainan digital. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik survei dan penyebaran questioner. PENDAHULUANSamawa merupakan salah satu dari tiga suku besar di provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat yang mendiami bagian barat pulau Sumbawa. Mereka menyebut diri mereka sebagai orang Sumbawa atau "Tau Samawa" dan menggunakan "Basa Samawa" sebagai bahasa sehari-hari. Suku Samawa sangat kaya akan budaya dan adat istiadat, termasuk budaya folklore.Folklore, merupakan bagian dari budaya rakyat, terdiri dari dua kata "folk" dan "lore". Folk adalah istilah yang mengacu pada suatu kelompok masyarakat yang saling membagi tradisi dan karakteristik yang sama. Biasanya mengacu pada cara hidup tradisional suatu kelompok masyarakat (Watts, 2007). Menurut Allan Dundes, term "Folk" merupakan sekelompok orang yang memiliki kesamaan karakter fisik, sosial, dan budaya, yang bisa dibagi menjadi kelompok sosial dan budaya (Dananjaja, 1984). Masih menurut Danandjaja, istilah "lore" merupakan bagian dari budaya, yang diwariskan secara turun temurun dari satu generasi ke generasi berikutnya disampaikan secara lisan atau melalui sebuah contoh tanda, lambang atau berdasarkan daya ingat (Danandjaja, 1984).Budaya folklore terbagi dalam tiga bagian berdasarkan keberadaannya, yakni Verbal (Lisan), Non-Verbal (Non-Lisan) dan Partly-Verbal (Sebagian Lisan) (Brunvand, 1968).
