A single mother has to face quite complicated conditions, especially for children with special needs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many activities have changed due to large-scale social restrictions in Jakarta and its surroundings, including studying and teaching. All educational activities are conducted online. Single mothers have to consider fulfilling their children’s needs while dealing with their children doing online school. This qualitative research uses a phenomenological study of four single mothers as participants with special needs children aged 15-22 years who struggle to raise them. This study shows that mothers have strong resilience because they adapt to conditions and need support from family, friends, and the environment.
The pandemic presents various struggles, including among church leaders and the clergy who serve specifically within the Synod of Gereja Kristus. The research conducted on the clergy looked at the two sides of leadership, i.e. transformational and servant leadership, where both leaders were associated with perceived organizational support, job satisfaction and life satisfaction factors for personal calling in serving as clergy. The results showed a positive and significant effect of transformational leadership on perceived organizational support and life satisfaction. Job satisfaction as a mediating variable also has a significant and positive effect on life satisfaction.
Faithfulness is often a virtue that sustains a mission of service. This study aimed to tell the experience one of the important actors (participants), a pastor. What are the dimensions that can build a faithful construction, especially in church services based on the experiences of participants. In a religious context, faithfulness has a different dimension, namely a transcendental dimension that does not stand alone, but is also influenced by a horizontal perspective which can be explained by the theory of stewardship. When stewardship is understood horizontally, the highest measurement of a relationship tends to be welfare and harmony. It gets reinforced by the vertical dimension where God becomes the authority of truth and becomes the reason to keep serving, especially serving faithfully. This study tries to frame the story about the phenomenon of faithfulness dimension in church ministry with a narrative approach. This study seeks to show how life of a pastor who uses faithfulness as the main pillar of his ministry.
Character development is required for students so they can bring benefits to society in the future. Character development in Bina Nusantara University has been carried out since 2001. Character development is in the form of 3 compulsory classes using values from Pancasila, Citizenship, and Religion. To improve continuously, it is necessary to find out students' attitudes toward character-building courses they had taken. This research measures students' attitudes towards the importance of character development, their favorite character-building course, how character-building courses influence their character, and whether applicable and relevant to everyday life. The result of the research shows students understood the importance of character development, the Character Building: Religion course was their favorite. The Character Building: Religion highly affects their character and is very applicable and relevant. Character Building: Pancasila and Character Building: Civics has an influence on their character, which are also applicable and relevant. The current state of Character-Building courses is good but still has room to improve. By knowing how students respond, further improvement can be more precise and effective.
One of the teacher's roles in a Christian school is the role of a shepherd. The shepherd metaphor itself is unique where the shepherd teacher's role could not be found in general in the education's world. The COVID-19 pandemic itself has become a time for Christian schools to reflect on the role of a teacher in shepherding their students. The shepherd's metaphor, the teacher's role as a shepherd and the pastoral duties of the teachers explore in the discussion from the perspective of the Christian faith. An example of the shepherding knowledge of the 21st-century learning approach is Project-Based Learning. The exploration results provide an essential description of the leading role of a Christian teacher in the context of a Christian school and become a reflection that confirms the calling of a Christian teacher, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
