For the first time of our knowledge, we demonstrate the graphene oxide as a saturable absorber (SA) in the passive mode-locking of a diode pumped Tm 3+ -doped laser. Broadly spectral region sub-10 ps mode-locking in a Tm:YAlO3 (Tm:YAP) laser near 2 µm were obtained. With a pump power of 8.64 W, the average output power of 268 mW with the maximum pulse energy of 3.7 nJ at the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of 71.8 MHz was obtained.
Abstract:A diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:Lu0.33Y0.37Gd0.3VO4 (Nd:LuYGdVO4) laser at 1.06 μm with a single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber is demonstrated. At the incident pump power 9.1 W, the minimum pulse width of 52 ns and the maximum peak power 66.5 W can be obtained. In order to compare different gain media, the passively Q-switched Nd:LuVO 4 and Nd:Lu 0.15 Y 0.85 VO 4 (Nd:LuYVO 4 ) lasers under the same laser cavity are also investigated. The experimental results show that Nd:LuYGdVO 4 crystal is more suitable for passively Q-switched laser with single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber than Nd:LuVO4 or Nd:LuYVO4 crystals.
We report a passively dual-wavelength mode-locked Yb:LuYSiO5 (Yb:LYSO) laser with a double-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (DWCNT-SA) for the first time. Simultaneous mode-locking at the 1045.5 and 1059.0 nm was achieved and the pulse duration of the dual-wavelength modelocked pulses are 8.0 ps. Ultrahigh repetition rate ultrafast pulses with 750 fs pulse width and 3.66 THz repetition rate were further obtained. The average output power of 1.27 W with a repetition rate of 103.5 MHz was obtained using absorbed pump power of 12.83 W and the slope efficiency is 13.0%.Average output power, W 0 0.5
Double-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (DWCNT-SA) fabricated by vertical evaporation method was first used in passively mode-locked Yb 3+ :Sc 2 SiO 5 (Yb:SSO) laser to our knowledge. The laser operated at a repetition frequency of 89 MHz with the central wavelength of 1062.6 nm. A pulse duration of 15 ps was produced with an average power of 818 mW and a highest pulse energy of 9.2 nJ for a DWCNT-SA mode-locked laser. In addition, laser pulses as short as 1.6 ps were generated by inserting a pair of SF10 uncoated prisms into the cavity to compensate the cavity dispersion with a maximum peak power of 2.65 kW.Intensity
