Allylation of aldehyde and ketone, and prenylation of 2-chlorobenzoquinone were achieved by using a combination of a catalytic amount of indium(III) chloride and metallic aluminium or zinc.
Allylation of Carbonyl Compounds with a Catalytic Amount of Indium. -Allylation reactions using stoichiometric amounts of allylindium are known. The method described here requires catalytic amounts of indium in combination with metallic Al or Zn. The catalytic mechanism is discussed. In these reactions the solvent system is important; the presence of water is effective to suppress undesired side reactions. -(ARAKI, S.; JIN, S.-J.; IDOU, Y.; BUTSUGAN, Y.; Bull. Chem.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
