BackgroundMigraine is a prevalent, disabling type of primary headache disorder associated with a high socioeconomic burden. The clinical management of migraine is challenging. This study was to identify potential serum lipidomic biomarkers of migraine.MethodsThe serum lipidomic profile of migraine sufferers was compared with healthy individuals using Liquid Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS). Volcano plot analysis by Student’s t-test was performed to identify the differential metabolites. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were constructed and the area under ROC curves (AUC) was calculated to evaluate whether the metabolites could be efficiently exploited for constructing a sensitive biomarker of migraine.ResultsA total of 29 serum metabolites from 4 classes of lipids including acylcarnitines, non-alpha-hydroxy-sphingosine ceramides (Cer_NSs), lysophosphatidylcholines (lysoPCs) and lysophosphatidylethanolamines (lysoPEs) were significantly different in migraine patients and controls. Of note, Cer_NSs were significantly elevated and lysoPEs were significantly decreased in migraine patients. LysoPE 18:1, lysoPE 18:2 and lysoPE 22:5 were found to be decreased in both positive and negative ion mode. Moreover, except for lysoPC 20:0, other lysoPCs were decreased in migraine patients. ROC curve analysis indicated that lysoPC 16:0 and lysoPC 20:0 are potential sensitive and specific biomarkers for migraine.ConclusionLysoPC 16:0 and lysoPC 20:0 may be potential biomarkers for migraine. BackgroundThe aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between indocyanine green plasma disappearance rate (ICG-PDR) and allograft function as well as postoperative complications after liver transplantation.Material/MethodsIn this prospective study, 115 cases of adult liver transplantation performed from 1 June 2016 to 1 December 2016 were enrolled. These 115 patients were divided into a group of PDR <18%/min (50 cases) and a group of PDR ≥18%/min (65 cases). The rates of liver recovery, postoperative complications, and survival were compared between these 2 groups.ResultAmong the total of 115 patients, 111 patients recovered well and were discharged, whereas 4 patients died during the first month after the operation. Between the 2 groups, significant differences were observed in terms of the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score, intraoperative bleeding volume, and the level of hemoglobin (Hb), pre-albumin (PA) and total bilirubin (TB) the first week after the operation. Overall, the incidence of hepatic arterial complications and pneumonia was much higher in the PDR<18%/min group (P<0.05).ConclusionsThe early postoperative value of ICG-PDR was closely related to graft function and could act as a good predictor for the incidence of postoperative arterial complications.
Objective. To evaluate efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), we conducted this meta-analysis, as well as proposed a protocol for its application in curative processes. Methods. All randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of PRP for the management of mild or moderate CTS were included in this study. Database search was conducted from study inception to July 2020, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. We used visual analogue scores (VAS) and the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) as evaluation tools for primary outcomes. Second outcomes comprised cross-sectional area (ΔCSA) and electrophysiological indexes including distal motor latency (DML), sensory peak latency (SPL), motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV), sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV), compound muscle action potential (CMAP), and sensory nerve action potential (SNAP). The pooled data were analyzed using RevMan 5.3. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were conducted with the evidence of heterogeneity. Egger’ test was used to investigate publication bias. Results. 9 RCTs were finally screened out with 434 patients included. Control groups comprised corticosteroid injection in 5 trials, saline injection in 1 trial, and splint in 3 trials. At the 1st month after follow-up, only ΔCSA between the PRP group and the control group showed significant difference ( P < 0.05 ). In the 3rd month, there were statistically significant differences in VAS, BCTQ, SPL, SNCV, and ΔCSA between two groups ( P < 0.05 ), while no statistically significant differences were found in the remaining outcomes. In the 6th month, there were statistically significant differences at BCTQ ( P < 0.05 ) in primary outcomes and ΔCSA ( P < 0.05 ) in secondary outcomes between two groups. As to adverse events in PRP injection, only one study reported increased pain sensation within 48 h after injections. Conclusion. This systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrates that the PRP could be effective for mild to moderate CTS and superior to traditional conservative treatments in improving pain and function and reducing the swelling of the median nerve for a mid-long-term effect. To some extent, the electrophysiological indexes also improved after PRP injection compared with others conservative treatments.
