This study aims to compile basic data, develop and implement the Indonesian School of Literacy program in Improving the Quality of Basic Education for Marginal Communities. The program aims to establish and improve school performance through a mentoring process for school principals and teachers. In addition, this program also involves parents in the learning process of students while at home. Parents are involved through parenting training held at school. The Indonesian Literacy School is a program that seeks to realize a community-based school model that concentrates on improving the quality of instructional systems and the development of school culture, with a distinctive literacy culture. This program focuses on improving school governance by referring to indicators of improving school performance based on the Uswah Method Tools. The stages in the development of this program are: program planning, program implementation, and the end of the program. This research was conducted in 2018 to make program design and development of program tools. After that, an initial assessment of the area and school was carried out for program intervention. Program interventions are carried out in the Indonesian verandah, namely: Kepulaun Meranti (Riau Province) and Nunukan (North Kalimantan). The results showed that there was an improvement in school governance through improving the quality of instructional systems and the development of school culture, with a distinctive literacy culture.
Students' mathematical communication skills are still low and need to be improved. Learning tools do not support the student learning process. This study aims to produce a learning trajectory for lst-order differential equations. This type of research is a Plomp type research design consisting of three phases: (1) preliminary phase (preliminary research phase), (2) prototyping phase (prototype development phase), and (3) assessment phase (assessment phase). This section reports the preliminary phase. The conclusion is that the device has not facilitated students to make their own strategies to find concepts. Students need teaching materials in the form of worksheets that contain contextual problems that are close to students and facilitate student learning flow in rediscovering the theoretical concept of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE).
One of the basic abilities expected by each student in the Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE) course is the understanding of the ODE concept. But the reality shows that students are still weak in understanding the concept. This indication is seen from student learning outcomes that are still relatively low. This situation is expected to occur because lectures that have not involved many students actively rediscover ODE concepts. Possible efforts to improve understanding of this concept by students are by applying the Connecting-Organizing-Extending Reflecting (CORE) learning model. This type of research is quasi-experimental with the design of the Static Group Comparison Design. The population of this study were students of the Mathematics Department FMIPA Universitas Negeri Padang in the January-June 2018 semester. The instrument used was the final test in the form of essays to see the understanding of concepts. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that understanding the mathematical concepts of students who study with the CORE model is better than students who learn with conventional learning.
