Teacher education is an important strategy for developing teachers’ technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK). Many schools in the world have incorporated the training into teacher education plans. However, there has been controversy in academic circles concerning the effects of teacher education intervention in promoting the development of teacher TPACK. Therefore, this study used a meta-analysis approach to review the published literature on teacher education programs to determine the impact on TPACK. The results showed that teacher education intervention positively affected TPACK (d = 0.839, p < 0.0001). Besides cultural background, experimental participants, types, sample types, intervention durations, differences in measurement methods, intervention types, and learning environments are the reasons for the differences in the effects of the interventions. The research design using random experiments had a significant positive effect on the size, which was significantly higher than that of the quasi-experiment. The longer the duration of teaching intervention, the stronger the improvement effect of teachers’ TPACK. There are significant differences in improving TPACK between teaching interventions, and the effect is more obvious. Teacher education intervention has a greater and slightly smaller impact on theoretical and practical knowledge. However, cultural background, experimental participant, sample type, and learning environment have no significant effect on teacher education intervention.
Many studies are proving that learning mathematics with an ethnomathematical approach can improve students’ mathematical skills. Developing and using ethnomathematics concepts are important to raise history and cultural awareness of mathematics. This study aims to analyse the ethnomathematics values of the Temple of Heaven. Temple of Heaven is one of the famous heritage sites in Beijing, China, which bears many ethnomathematics concepts. The researchers applied a qualitative method in this study. The subject of this research is the Temple of Heaven building that is located in Beijing, China. Researchers identified the geometrical concept present in the exterior, interior design, and building structure of the Temple of Heaven building. This research shows the existence of mathematical concepts in the architecture of the Temple of Heaven. This research result can help teachers in making mathematical practice questions with ethnomathematics concepts.
In today’s information age, the informatization of education requires teachers to become a new type of teacher with information capabilities. The subject teaching knowledge of integrated technology is the knowledge basis for the professionalization of teachers in the information age. This research aims to analyze Pre-service teachers’ perception of Technological, Pedagogical, and Mathematical knowledge. This research adopts the case study method, using Questionnaires for data collection tools. The sample of this research is 84 pre-service teachers from Guangxi Normal University, China. The respondents are undergraduate and master students that are chosen randomly. The instrument used is 20 questionnaire items on pre-service teachers’ perception of their TPMK ability. The data was processed by using SPSS and Microsoft Excel. The research result shows that pre-service teachers have a good Technological Pedagogical Mathematical Knowledge ability but their Technological knowledge is still lacking. Teacher education programs should provide pre-service teachers with opportunities to develop TPMK to integrate technology into teaching effectively.
