Recently spatial reasoning has gradually become a research hotspot in some domains such as GIS and spatiotemporal database. At present many spatio-temporal methods put forward by scholars are methods based on logic or algebra by and large, and researches on formalization representation and reasoning of geographic sptatio-temporal knowledge are few. Geo-ontology researches detailed connotations and hierarchy relationships of concepts of geographic spatial information in the geoinformatics domain and offers semantic annotations of concepts. Semantic and spatio-temporal relationships can fuse into geo-ontology and form knowledge base of geo-ontology. But OWL, an ontology representation language, can't describe determining and reasoning rules of spatio-temporal relationships owing on account of its limitation. At the same time SWRL can make up the deficiency of OWL, which implements the combination of Horn-like rules and OWL knowledge base by adopting highly abstract syntax to express knowledge represented by OWL ontology. This paper does a research on adopting geo-ontology to represent semantic and spatiotemporal relationships and applying SWRL to express spatio-temporal rules, which lays the solid foundation of spatio-temporal reasoning.
This paper brings forth building spatio-temporal reasoning architecture and spatio-temporal query system based on adopting geo-ontology to represent spatio-temporal information knowledge and employing SWRL rules to express spatio-temporal reasoning rules. When carrying through spatiotemporal reasoning this paper adopts Jess to be a reasoner, which is the core of the whole architecture. Before carrying through reasoning this paper transforms geo-ontology and SWRL rules into fact base and rule base of Jess. After carrying through reasoning this paper uses obtained new facts to update original geo-ontology. In spatio-temporal query system this paper adopts input interface employing geo-ontology to conduct query requirement, and divides spatio-temporal query into three levels such as ordinary spatio-temporal query, simple spatio-temporal query based on semantics and complicated spatio-temporal query based on semantics.Under the background of experiment system of digital tobacco 3S, this paper develops spatio-temporal query architecture of agricultural geographic information based on geo-ontology and SWRL spatio-temporal reasoning rules. Through comparing and analyzing experiment result, this paper points out that spatio-temporal reasoning and spatio-temporal query based on geo-ontology and SWRL rules are future development orientation of spatio-temporal query of agricultural geographical information. The experiment case can provide powerful support for decision-making and management of planting tobacco.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
