A new design for antennas with dual‐band and dual‐polarization operations is described. The design uses a stacked structure that is composed of a lower microstrip antenna and an upper crossed‐dipole antenna. The microstrip antenna, excited with two orthogonal probe feeds, is operated at the lower frequency band, and the crossed‐dipole antenna, excited with a pair of coaxial baluns, is operated at the higher frequency band. Experimental results demonstrate that the 10 dB‐return‐loss impedance bandwidths of the two antennas can cover the frequency bands from 2.4 to 2.48 GHz and from 5.15 to 5.85 GHz, respectively. Moreover, for each antenna, the isolation between the orthogonal input ports is larger than 30 dB and the cross polarization level is around −20 dB. Simulation results obtained with HFSS are also provided, and they have good agreements with the measured results.
