The objectives of this study are as follows: (1) Developing ISLE-based STEM learning media, (2) Building 21st-century skills and character, (3) Analyzing the improvement of learning outcomes through lesson study. This research is a descriptive quantitative study developed at the STEM UNSYIAH Research Center and carried out at Unsyiah Laboratory High School. The instruments used in this study are validation rubric for media and material experts and Teacher Observation sheets and monitoring sheets for the increasing 21st-century character. Based on the data analysis: 1) Validation of the Moment of Inertia props from 2 media experts obtained an average percentage value of 86.4% with an excellent category. 2) Validation of Student Worksheet by two validators expert in material teaching obtained an average percentage value of 84.77% with an excellent category. 3) The teaching and learning results using teaching aids and LKPD through a Lesson Study conducted by the observer obtained a percentage with an average of 83.5% excellent category. 4) There is an increase in 21st-century character in students by 77% with an excellent category. ISLE-based STEM Learning Media is very suitable for improving 21st-century skills.
This article is written to describe how time token strategy improving students' speaking skill. Classroom Action Research was chosen as the research design. The subject of this research was the first grade (X-IPA III) of MAS Amaliyah Sunggal in academic year 2017-2018 which consisted of 40 students. This research was conducted in two cycles which each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data were gathered through quantitative and qualitative data. The result of this research showed that there was improvement on students' speaking skills. The mean of pre-test was 58.3. The mean of post-test 1 was 68.65. The mean of post-test 2 was 76.1. It indicated that the scores and the mean in second cycle were better th an the first cycle. The percentage of students who got point >75 also grew up. In the pre-Test, the students who got point >75 were 5 students (12.05%). In the post-test of cycle 1 students who got point >75 were 19 students (47.5%). The post-test of cycle 2, students who got point >75 were 35 students (87.5%). In other words, the students' skills in speaking improved and became well in the first meeting to the next meeting.
Textbook is important in the process of teaching and learning because it is used by the students and teachers in the classroom. It helps students to get information related to the learning especially in learning English. Appropriate textbook is important thing for senior high school during the teaching and learning process to comprehend English learning material clearly. This study was aimed to evaluate the English learning material in the textbook, especially the textbook for senior high school students. The students' textbook used by the SMA students grade XI that produced by Kemendikbud was the source of this study. This study was an evaluation research to evaluate the product in order to describe the existed condition in the field. The evaluatice checklist was used to evaluate English learning material in the textbook. As a result of the study, the evaluation of the textbook related to the English learning material was identified and classified based on Cunningsworth's theory and BNSP Standard. It consisted of the compatibility of the material with Cuningsworth theory and the sufficiency of the material with BNSP Standard.
