The global climate change can affect human life and activities through the increasing amount of natural disasters, global warming and the melting of the icebergs. This study was conducted to analyze the Malaysian media's coverage of global climate change in four Malaysian mainstream newspapers. The data for this study were collected for two years, beginning January 2008 to December 2010. A content analysis was conducted to identify the frequency of the articles related with global climate change and the trend of newspaper coverage and the frames of the articles. The findings for this study will provide an understanding about the ways Malaysian mainstream newspapers provide the coverage about global climate change and the public's reactions. The findings also revealed that the coverage was influenced by other global events when the trend of newspaper coverage shows a dramatic surge in coverage during important events related to global climate change.
Teaching can be challenging task especially when the students are categorized as reluctant readers, low self-motivated and lack of critical thinking skills. Therefore, this study focuses on a successful problem-based learning approach on university course called 'Literature for Language Purposes' taken by Bachelor of English with Communication students at a local Malaysian university. The aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of carrying out problem-based learning in teaching literature. The project involved 55 undergraduates and part of their major course assignments was to organize and participate in an annual English language drama competition. The data was collected through students' reflective journals, researchers' reflective journals, response from end of semester questionnaire given and, lecturers' evaluation on FILA tables. The findings show that problem-based learning is suitable and beneficial in teaching and enhancing critical thinking skills.
Sexual health communication is currently one of the most discussed topic in Malaysia as the country witnessed the surge of sexual related crime and social problem among youths. In relation to this, youths' knowledge and attitude are the important factor that contribute to this delinquent behaviour and must be addressed as it will shape the youths in the future. The paper discussed the correlation between knowledge and attitude concerning youths in obtaining information on sexual related materials. The research primarily focuses on youths in Malaysia which made up 40% of Malaysia population. The study is significant as it provides a thorough picture how knowledge and attitude influence youths communicate the sexual health topic which is deemed as taboo in Malaysia. The study involved 853 respondents from various demographic group in Malaysia and self-administered questionnaires were distributed and analysed using SPSS to address the research objectives. The result indicated there are significant relationships between knowledge and attitude among youths toward sexual health communication practice. Results showed that 55.1 percent of the studied factors contributed to sexual health communication model among Malaysian youths. Moreover, knowledge and attitude are very critical for the youths to have a better comprehension on sexual health communication. This further testified that Malaysia government and various stakeholders need to acknowledge the importance of sexual health communication and how knowledge and attitude shape positive youth's development which ultimately contribute to nation building.
