This study aims to explore the goals and direction of science tahfiz education in Selangor and compare it to the demands of JAIS Education Philosophy as well as its coordination with the demands of the era. Quality tahfiz institutions should fulfill a number of key features namely building students’ potential in a balanced; integrated and comprehensive; innovative and creative manner, taking into account current times and developmental demands with the concept of tawhid as its core. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study the background, goals and direction of the Science Tahfiz Education of Selangor; secondly, to examine the curriculum of Science Tahfiz Education of Selangor and the third objective is to explore the facilities and infrastructure provided by the management of Science Tahfiz Education of Selangor. This is a pilot study and it uses qualitative study design. Interviews were conducted towards school managers and tahfiz senior assistant teacher. Several documents were also examined such as documents of school establishment as well as the curriculum implemented. The pilot study found that the maahad tahfiz is one of the maahad tahfiz in Selangor which becomes the knowledge heritage centre to produce quality students in terms of knowledge and morality. The maahad tahfiz utilises turath curriculum with Turath books integrated with the national curriculum. On the aspect of infrastructure, it is fully prepared by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS). Keywords: Curriculum, Integration, Turath, Tahfiz Education Abstrak Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneroka matlamat dan halatuju pendidikan tahfiz sains di Selangor dan membandingkannya dengan tuntutan Falsafah Pendidikan JAIS serta keselarasannya dengan tuntutan perkembangan zaman. Institusi tahfiz yang berkualiti seharusnya memenuhi beberapa ciri utama iaitu membina potensi pelajar secara seimbang, bersepadu dan menyeluruh, inovatif dan kreatif, mengambil kira tuntutan zaman dan perkembangan semasa serta berpaksikan prinsip tauhid. Oleh yang demikian, objektif kajian ini adalah mengkaji latar belakang, matlamat dan hala tuju Pendidikan Tahfiz Sains Negeri Selangor, kedua,adalah meneliti kurikulum Pendidikan Tahfiz Sains Negeri Selangor. Dan ketiga adalah meneroka kemudahan dan infrastruktur yang disediakan oleh pihak pengurusan Pendidikan Tahfiz Sains Negeri Selangor. Kajian ini adalah merupakan kajian rintis dan ianya menggunakan rekabentuk kajian kualitatif. Temubual dilaksanakan terhadap pengurus sekolah dan guru penolong kanan tahfiz. Beberapa dokumen juga telah diteliti seperti dokumen penubuhan sekolah dan dokumen kurikulum yang dilaksanakan. Dapatan kajian rintis ini mendapati, ia merupakan salah sebuah maahad tahfiz di Selangor yang menjadi pusat warisan ilmu bagi melahirkan pelajar yang berkualiti dari segi ilmu dan akhlak. Maahad tahfiz ini menggunakan kurikulum turath bersama kitab Turath yang diintegrasikan dengan kurikulum kebangsaan. Dari aspek prasarana,ia disediakan sepenuhnya oleh pihak Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS). Kata kunci: Kurikulum, Integrasi, Turath, Pendidikan Tahfiz
<span lang="EN-US">Online learning (e-learning) has become a norm since the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world. The global health crisis has forced teachers and students to drastically adapt to a new method of teaching and facilitation (PDPC), i.e. online. However, teachers living in rural areas face various challenges teaching online due to poor Internet access. There are still many teachers who are less skilled in information technology to deliver teaching materials online. This study uses a qualitative approach by interviewing three secondary school Islamic Education teachers as the study participants. The findings reveal that the teachers utilise social media such as WhatsApp and Telegram to convey various information, instructions and training. The learning mediums used also vary, from the Zoom app to Google Meet and video calls. In addition, teachers employ other online learning tools such as Google Classroom. Teachers also employ flexible online teaching and learning schedules to overcome issues such as parents who have many school-going children but lack the funds to purchase gadgets for each child. A flexible schedule enhances online learning as the school-going children in each household can use devices but not simultaneously. Other major challenges include students’ lack of cooperation (whether in an online or offline class) and the failure of parents to monitor their children’s progress. As a result, educators need to be more creative and ready to acquire new skills to meet the current challenges. Educators need to adapt online teaching and learning methods in line with the concept of 21st Century Learning (PAK21). Therefore, the use of appropriate and creative technology in a remote learning environment encourages students to focus on learning and prevents dropouts.</span>
Although there is a growing interest in the culture of thinking in education, detailed information about classroom interaction that can incorporate thinking culture is lacking, particularly in the Malaysian context. Additionally, past studies do not focus on Islamic education. This study aimed to explore the feedback of excellent teachers in classroom interactions to incorporate a thinking culture. A qualitative case study approach was adopted on six excellent teachers (ETS) in Islamic Education using purposive sampling. Data were collected via teaching observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Thematic analysis revealed five themes that represented ETs’ feedback in classroom interactions to enhance thinking culture: give praise, give reprimand and criticism, stimulate information seeking, evaluate information, and ask for clarification. This study added value to the description of teachers’ feedback to create a thinking culture, especially in Islamic Education classrooms in Malaysia. The findings indicated that teachers need to increase open feedback, be willing to listen to students’ views, use praise and criticism selectively, and be a trustee of students for a democratic classroom to be realized. This study is expected to strengthen the effectiveness of teaching that incorporates a thinking culture.
Pendidikan yang berkualitas sering dikaitkan dengan manajemen tata kelola sekolah yang berkualitas. Namun, membangun dan membentuk manajemen yang efektif di sekolah sangatlah sulit. Ini karena sekolah berbeda dengan organisasi lain. Meskipun demikian, upaya untuk menghasilkan masyarakat yang terdidik akan lebih berhasil jika semua permasalahan, tantangan dan permasalahan yang terdapat di sekolah dapat dan dapat diatasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan yang ditemukan dalam pengelolaan tata kelola di sekolah, menganalisis tantangan yang dihadapi dalam aspek manajemen kurikulum di sekolah dan mengkaji tantangan yang dihadapi sekolah dari segi sarana dan prasarana sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang melibatkan wawancara terhadap partisipan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa terdapat berbagai tantangan besar yang dihadapi oleh manajemen sekolah yang perlu segera diatasi. Ada berbagai tantangan dan isu manajemen pendidikan yang dapat dikategorikan dalam hal administrasi, jenjang pendidikan, sarana dan prasarana, organisasi sekolah dan profesionalisme guru. Oleh karena itu, upaya tekun dan kerja sama dari berbagai pihak akan menghasilkan sistem manajemen tata kelola sekolah yang efektif dan berkualitas serta mampu menghadapi semua tantangan saat ini secara holistik. Kendala dan tantangan tersebut perlu disikapi dengan bijak agar citra dunia manajemen pendidikan di Malaysia tidak ternoda oleh isu-isu yang muncul.
