The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of enriched 5Es model on grade 7 students' conceptual change levels about 'electric current' subject. Within the enriched 5Es model, animation, simulation, refutational text and worksheet were employed. The sample of the study comprised of 68 grade 7 students from three cohorts in a primary school in Çarşıbaşı in the city of Trabzon. These cohorts were randomly assigned as an experimental (N=23), control-1 (N=23) and control-2 (N=22) groups. Within a quasi-experimental research method, data were collected via a two tier conceptual questionnaire with 12 items. The results indicate that the experimental group outperformed in conceptual understanding as compared to the control groups. Given the results of the enriched 5Es model in remedying the related alternative conceptions, it should be deployed to teach the other science subjects.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
