Background: Long noncoding RNAs (LncRNA) are emerging as key regulators in various biological processes. However, their role in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) remains elusive. Results: A subset of lncRNAs are dysregulated upon transforming growth factor (TGF) -induced EMT, and lncRNA-HIT mediates this process. Conclusion: LncRNAs such as lncRNA-HIT ((HOXA transcript induced by TGF) play a pivotal role in EMT and breast cancer progression. Significance: Here we profiled lncRNAs in TGF-induced EMT and identified a novel conserved lncRNA-HIT.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
