The juxtaposition of artistic elements and creation principles in the scenography invention within the creative and artistic pieces work together and are important components in the theatrical processes in a theatre production. This is because scenography components combine the elements of visual creations, arts and creative ideas in abstract, realistic and experimental following the concept and theme of the staged play. This research was conducted using qualitative method, guided by the data collected in the theatrical works produced by artistic productions along with the teaching and learning curriculum on scenography element towards 20 students and 2 teachers. Thus, research shows the effective role of scenography invention in producing a theatre production in Malaysia Art School, Johor which implemented teaching and learning patterns focusing on the development of creative and innovative thinking through exploration activities to produce high quality ideas and creations. Furthermore, it also exhibits the factors which influenced scenography teaching and learning issues in a production. The result of this research displays the significance of juxtaposition of artistic elements and creation principles in the invention of creative scenography works through exploration approach to ensure the understanding of artistic elements and creation principles elaboration among the teachers and students be exposed within the earlier stages in a theatre production.
This research intends to study the exploration of visual dimension in the visual arts and identities performance of Makyung Raja Besar Ho Gading. Visual dimension is a very important process in producing a production that had its own artistic meaning and values. The changing process for visual arts and visual identities could be created in abstracts, realistic and experimental forms, according to the concept and theme of the production that are being projected on the stage. Due to this, the research showcases the roles of the visual arts and visual identity exploration in mutually shaping the performing arts of Makyung Raja Besar Ho Gading with the application of arts and design principles. The exploration of visual arts and visual identity in the performance of Makyung Raja BesarHoGading has the aesthetic values that are consisted of the sociocultural influence from the society and visualises the life of Raja BesarHoGading and his royal siblings. The dramatic imagery of the seven siblings had been the symbolic representation of the society connected with the brotherhood and togetherness, vendetta among each other. The research outcomes will exhibits the importance of identification of visual arts and visual identities that had been used in the performance of Makyung Raja BesarHoGading in order to increase the understanding of the visual arts as inspiration sources for the artistic designer in the context of designing and building the set based on the sociocultural symbolism of the aristocrats.
Theatre development plays an important role in empowering the creative arts industry in Malaysia in line with technological advances. The MalaysianIndie Identity Theatrestudy in Malay Drama Stage Development is carried out to bring professionals, academics, practitioners and students from across the country to jointly foster the potential of participants in the creative industry. Indie Theatre is a new theatre genre that is evolving in the Malay drama stage. This has indirectly opened a new perspective on the concept of form and content in indie theatre performances. Hence, this study is to find out the form of indie theatre production that is able to attract the audience? The research was able to achieve two objectives, namelyto describe the form of Malaysian Indie theatre in the development of the Malay drama and to analyse the identity and contents of the Malaysian Indie theatre. The researcher conducted the study by interviewing four informants who are activists and academics in the theatre field. Subsequently, after analysing the data, the researcher unravelled the form and content with the Identity theory guide to build the identity of the Indie theatre production. The implication of this study is very important as it will guide the knowledge and opportunities to build new innovations in theatre field, add more references to the development of the postmodern Malay drama stage and can enhance the creative industry especially Indie theatre production in line with producing brilliant art practitioners on the basis of the creative industry of the country.
