The study shows for the first time the effect of preformed alloying Al layer
deposited on silicon substrate upon the morphology and orientation growth of
ZnO:Al nanocrystals array. The stages of decay of the alloying Al layer into droplets
of the quasi-liquid phase, from temperature treatment at the initial stage of the
growth according to the vapor-liquid-crystal (VLC) mechanism, are demonstrated.
The schema of growth stages of ZnO nanocrystals according to VLC mechanism, on
Si substrate with a pre-applied layer of the alloying metal, is presented.
