Alcohol withdrawal is the most threatening condition encountered in patients with alcohol use disorder. Our study aimed to investigate the association of alcohol withdrawal severity with polymorphic variants in melatonin receptor genes. Methods. The clinical study was carried out on the basis of the Republican Narcological Dispensary №1 in Ufa and the Republican Narcological Dispensary №2 in Sterlitamak. Genetic analysis was performed at the Department of Personalised Psychiatry and Neurology at the V.M. Bekhterev Research Centre, Saint Petersburg. The final sample consisted of 307 subjects. Results. Carriers of the TT genotype of the MTNR1A gene (rs34532313) were found to have less hypertension during alcohol withdrawal than carriers of the other genotypes. In comparison, carriers of the GG genotype of the MTNR1B gene (rs10830963) experienced more symptoms than other genotypes: paroxysmal sweating, visual hallucinations, anxiety, and overall CIWA-Ar score. Conclusions. Thus, it can be concluded that the TT genotype of MTNR1A gene (rs34532313) is associated with a lower risk of hypertension during alcohol withdrawal compared to carriers of other gene genotypes. The GG genotype of MTNR1B gene (rs10830963) is associated with severe withdrawal. In general, it can be concluded that melatonin receptors are involved in the pathogenesis of alcohol withdrawal and the severe of some of its symptoms.
Aim. To study the outcomes of emotional stress induced by physical overload, and to assess the effects of benzimidazole derivative containing dioxonium ethane cycle of 2-[1-(1,1-dioxyethenyl 3) benzimidazolyl-2-thio] acetic acid potassium salt.Methods. Behavioral responses were studied in experimental animals getting graduated physical exercise (swimming test) which was used as a model for physical and emotional stress. White scrub rats with a body weight of 120-180 g were used as research object. Physical overload was induced by making animals swim 30 minutes daily for 28 days. Animals were distributed into three groups of 10 animals each: the control group, the group of physical activity, and the group of physical activity exposed to the studied substance (50 mg/kg).Results. Animals exposed to physical activity showed an increase in adrenal glands weight white blood cell count and reduced the mobility ratio and the overall research activity, as well as increased emotional anxiety, indicating stress. Benzimidazole derivative showed to be effective controller of chronic stress. Physical activity in animals exposed to study substance did not lead to an increase of white blood cell count and adrenal glands weight. Animals exposed to study substance increased mobility ratio and the overall research activity by 1.5 times, and the rate of emotional anxiety in animals has decreased by 2 times compared to the group that was exposed to physical activity without benzimidazole derivative administration. Free radical oxidation processes were more intense in brain homogenates of animals after physical activity, which was seen as increased levels of reactants interacting with thiobarbituric acid and decreased total antioxidant activity. In animals exposed to study substance, these indicators increased compared to animals exposed physical activity without administration of study substance, and were comparable to controls.Conclusion. The use of the study substance prevents the negative effects of emotional stress and physical overload.
The article discusses the first results of studies of coping strategies of servicemen of the structure of Rosgvardia. The purpose of the study was to study the specifics and to analyze the coping strategies of the rank and file and the command structure of mobile special forces units (OMON) of the Federal service of troops Rosgvardia.Materials and methods. Underwent questionnaire survey 65 members of OMON of the Federal service troops Rosgvardia. The working activity of the presented group of people is associated with the frequent impact of stress factors. The questionnaire of coping with stress in adaptation of Rasskazova-Gordeeva-Aspen was used as a method. Results. After analyzing the data, we determined the frequency of choice of riot police coping strategies in difficult or problematic situations for them. Conclusion. The data collected can be useful for the development of rehabilitation programmes for military personnel, as well as help to expand the database of existing data in the study of coping strategies.
