The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of the Smart Care ubiquitous healthcare service on hypertension management. Fifty one patients with inadequately controlled blood pressure (Systolic Blood Pressure ≥ 140 mmHg despite prescribed antihypertensive medication) from 4 local clinics participated in this study. Remote biometric monitoring and healthcare consultation via videophone was provided to the participants during 24 week-Smart Care service. The average number of blood pressure monitoring and the average day of remote consult using Smart Care Service system was 121 and 14.8 per participant. As a result of analyzing change in blood pressure during 24 weeks, there was a significant difference in blood pressure between baseline and 24 weeks. Systolic blood pressures of 86.3% participants were dropped within a normal range at 24 week. Smart Care u-health service could be effective in reducing blood pressure.
The increasing elderly population has created an urgent need for well-managed convalescent hospitals, which should provide appropriate clinical nutrition services. The new accreditation policy requiring participation of all convalescent hospitals since 2013 may promote improvement of clinical nutrition services. This study examined whether or not the accreditation policy has increased practice level and dietitians' perception of the importance of clinical nutrition management. Of the 177 convalescent hospitals accredited by January 30, 2014, dietitians from 73 hospitals (41.2%) completed the survey questionnaire. The pre-tested questionnaire surveyed general characteristics of the hospital and dietitians, current status of clinical nutrition management, and changes in the perception and practice levels of various aspects of food and clinical nutrition management. In average, dietitians with more than 5 years of work experience (68.1%) provided food and clinical nutrition services (71.2%). After accreditation, dietitians' perception of the importance and practice level of clinical nutrition service increased (P<0.001). Level of perception, however, was significantly (P<0.001) higher than practice level before and after accreditation. During perception and practice level of initial nutrition assessment, a compulsory accreditation item, notably and significantly (P<0.001) improved after accreditation. The significant difference between perception and practice level disappeared after accreditation. In conclusion, the accreditation process had positive effects on clinical nutrition management in terms of dietitians' perception and practice levels. Making more accreditation items compulsory and providing motivation and professional education to dietitians in convalescent hospitals could lead to additional improvements.
This study was attempted in order to examine about influence of knowledge and attitude toward CPR(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in elementary school students of some regions upon self-confidence. The aim is to be conducive to effective performance and self-confidence in CPR for cardiac arrest patients. We carried out targeting 381 elementary school students who attend 4 schools in J city and K city of J province from June 25 to July 15, 2009. The statistical processing was done by SPSS WIN 12.0 Version. The statistical significance was set to p<.05. As for correlation between variables of cardiopulmonary resuscitation characteristics with knowledge, attitude, and self-confidence, the appearance of acquiring information(r=.174, p<.01), the appearance of experiencing cardiopulmonary resuscitation(r=.143, p<.01), the appearance of educating cardiopulmonary resuscitation(r=.164, p<.01), necessity for education(r=.184, p<.01), knowledge(r=.342, p<.01), and attitude(r=.736, p<.01) showed correlation with self-confidence. As for influence of knowledge and attitude toward cardiopulmonary resuscitation upon self-confidence, the attitude(β=.703, t=17.884, p<.01) had significant influence upon self-confidence. It is necessary to arrange educational program of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to distribute effective manpower, and to provide elementary school students to cope with emergent situation.
