2139-PUB: Antihypertensive Effect of Azilsartan in Newly Diagnosed Stage 2 Diabetic Hypertensives

Abstract: Background and Aim: Coexistence of hypertension (HTN) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) multiplies the risk of cardiovascular events. Early identification and prompt management of elevated blood pressure in T2DM has shown to improve the quality of life and to reduce the economic burden to the patients. We studied blood pressure (BP) lowering effect of Azilsartan (AZST) monotherapy in newly diagnosed stage 2 hypertensives with a history of T2DM. We also analysed its effects on blood glucose and renal indices. … Show more

“…Amongst the various water contaminants, pathogenic microorganisms which either exist as biolms on water carrying pipelines or in planktonic (free) form are the main causative agents of waterborne infections. [3][4][5][6][7][8] Currently, the water treatment processes for removal of microorganisms rely on addition of chlorine, bromine, ozone or UV treatment. 9 Research indicates that pathogens have acquired resistance to disinfection by chlorination.…”

“…Biofilm proliferation in engineered water systems is an ongoing concern for both municipal water infrastructure and medical equipment in healthcare environments. 1,2,3 Research into those systems under flow conditions is especially important due to their prevalence and known effects of flow on biofilm mechanical properties and bacterial proliferation. 4,5 Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen primarily known for its harmful role in the lungs of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients, 6 but it also inhabits other environments, including human-made water installations.…”
