Abstract: The irrigation methods offer a good alternative for increasing water use efficiency. The main purpose of this study was to identify the best irrigation level for Habanero pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) plants based on available water capacity (AWC) of substrate. An experiment carried out with three irrigation levels (20, 40 and 60% of AWC) and five genotypes (H225, H241, H244, H226 and Jaguar). The irrigation level of 20% decreased the soil water potential to cause water stress in plants. At an irrigation le… Show more

“…Our findings regarding the response patterns to water restriction of MSL values (Figure 4) were similar to those for bell pepper (Aragão et al, 2011) and habanero pepper (Capsicum chinense Habanero) (Pérez-Gutiérrez et al, 2017), both under water restriction. Plants under V4 showed higher growth in MSL and consequently higher numbers of branches and leaves compared to the other treatments.…”

“…This study results are consistent with Budiyati et al (2017), who reported that drought stress significantly reduced the growth, biomass, and yields in several varieties of red curly. Furthermore, a significant decrease in plant height and stem diameter under drought stress compared to control treatment was also reported by Pérez-Gutiérrez et al (2017) in Capsicum chinense Jacq. and Phimchan et al (2012) in some cultivars of hot pepper.…”
